What's with the tributes, he hasn't f***ing died.

Anyway, he was pretty decent.
Fatal Descent
Spinning around
I've gone too far
To turn back round

Desperate attempt
Stop the progression
At any length
Lift this obsession

I think deep down some of us were hoping Wenger would sign him in Jan as a Drogba-style talisman on the pitch and in the dressing room.

"It was an honour to have played with you @ThierryHenry," tweeted former Arsenal team-mate Robin van Persie following the Frenchman's retirement. "Thanks for all you have given to football. What you have achieved will live on for many years. A true football man, a Legend!"

Arsene Wenger tips 'incredible' Thierry Henry for Arsenal role

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says Thierry Henry possesses some of the essential characteristics needed to be a manager.

Henry, 37, ended his 20-year playing career this week and told the Daily Telegraph that managing Arsenal "would be a dream come true".

Wenger, who signed Henry in 1999, said: "He will end up at Arsenal one day. Coach? Manager? Director? I don't know.

"He always showed an incredible insight in his judgement of players. He has a real ability to unearth talent."

Henry plans to combine media work with gaining his coaching badges.

"To pass your badges, you have to work closely with a club and I would like to think it is going to be Arsenal," he said.

There is already a bronze statue of the Frenchman, who returned for a short loan spell from New York in January 2012, outside the Emirates Stadium in recognition of his 228 goals for the club, an Arsenal record.

Asked about Henry's character, Wenger said: "Thierry is blessed with a strong personality and he could get angry, but once he had re-found his calm, he was always very clear-headed.

"Ninety per cent of the time, it was a pleasure and 10% we could feel the little differences in our view of things.

"To be a coach you need to sacrifice your life. What is certain is that Thierry will stay in football."

After Brazilian Ronaldo Henry is the most electrifying player I have ever seen. What a privilege for us that we got to see the best of this superstar and all the glory that came with his supreme talent. It is just a shame he did not win the WPOTY with us that he so clearly deserved.

The period where he dominated for us was one of the worst periods of my life on a personal level and this man, this legend, more than anyone else in our shirt, gave me the moments, the highs, which helped me get through it. Back then football literally meant everything to me, nowadays it has a far less important place, but back then it made or broke my day/week, I am eternally grateful to Thierry for all he did back then and I will never forget those years as the pinnacle of my footballing pleasure and hands down (and I really mean this objectively) as the most inspiring style of football I ever saw.
