Who would you guys have as new captain if this guy goes, or as look's likely has captaincy taken away from him.

Only captain options for me are Leno, Xhaka (yes he’s shit but has the right fire) or Papa. All of which is quite embarrassing because 2 are 1 year in and the other shouldn’t even play.

From what I know about the story so far, the club has definitely handled this the wrong way. Koscielny’s actions are at least understandable.

When a player refuses to train, he needs to leave the club immediately. We can't keep unhappy players in our squad.

Where does he want to go even? I heard something of Lyon. Kos is still useful, even not as an every-matchday regular but his presence in the defensive camp alone, experience is nice.

So far:

*Koscielny's unhappy with the most recent contract that was offered to him
*Koscielny responded by not going on tour with the rest of the team
*The club released a public statement condemning Koscielny's actions

Why is that acceptable for a player? A captain? How are the club in the wrong for this?

I said Koscielny’s actions are understandable but that doesn’t mean I think his actions are right. From the club’s perspective, what do they gain from doing what they did? Imo, I don’t think they took the right course of action here.

I agree, the club have done nothing wrong. I've lost all respect for Kos now and all thoughts of the guy as a professional are out the window.

No player should hold a club to ransom or force their hand for their own personal gain. f**k him, get rid
