Holloway Road on Sunday
They have an event in there showing the whole game again
Plus the anfield 89 documentary
And a q&a with Perry groves and Martin Hayes
2 till 9-30
Might even go on the train so I can pin one on
My daughter works in there so she is getting me a belated birthday present
It's 30 quid
Bit lumpy but there is a buffet as well

Happy belated birthday mate.

Will you be asking any questions to Groves and Hayes?

I will see how it goes mate
My lady took me on the Emirates tour once and I virtually press ganged charlie George
So much so that in the press conference room he more a less was saying any questions( not you) tee hee
The funny thing was I used to rent a cab and Charlie used to work in the garage so I used to see him all the time and never really spoke about arsenal
It's all about about context
In an Arsenal setting it all tumbled out of me
In the late 70,s frank mclintock had a pub called the Sutton
I got nicked for being drunk in a public place and when I went to court frank wrote a letter saying I had been drinking coke
Despite having had a drink I wasn't drunk
The coppers just wanted to get in the warm
There were plenty of nights I could have got nicked for being drunk
This wasn't one of them
I got found guilty and fined a tenner
George graham was working in the pub bottling up
It was before he went into management at millwall
Funny how footballers were more visual in those days
Peter storey had the pub the jolly farmers in Southgate road while he was still playing for us
And Eddie kelly had a pub near chapel market called the Spanish patriots
Highly unlikely that adebayor will ever serve me a theakstons old peculiar and a packet of pork scratchings

I saw Charlie George in the same Italian place outside every time I went to play football for about a month

I was the only arsenal fan in the group to actually know who he was straight away which was pretty weird, just passed him (he always sat outside) and said alright Charlie

I’d like to think he appreciated it

Its funny how relatively recently players still had to keep one eye firmly on running a business or making sure that they had a job to go to when they finished playing

A few decades earlier than Charlier George and co, my Grandad was a successful businessman in the fifties and sixties. He was one of the first people to use football for corporate entertainment. His favourite party peice was to fly clients by private plane to go and watch Arsenal at away matches. This was in the fifties!

But the reason this is relevant is, he also used to approach Arsenal players and pay them a fee to attend a meeting with him. He'd introduce the player as his friend / business partner and afterwards the player would earn their money by having a drink or 10 with the client and tell them all about Arsenal.

I remember David Herd was one of the guys he mentioned.

I remember very clearly being really excited when Graham joined us as manager.

They were great times.

What a night that was.

Great, great memories of those days. My most enjoyable period following Arsenal.

I love how Graham tries to keep everyone calm at the end with no luck.

There are people who think bankrolled Man City beating 10 man QPR is a better finish than this lmao
