Very interesting ... but ultimately nothing that none of the realist Arsenal fans had not been saying for years ! Wenger was too interested in passing the ball and trying to look like Barcelona than he was making sure his team was defensively sound.

That was a MAJOR flaw anfd ultimately it led to his downfall. Some called it a vanity project, thats exactly what it was.

Were we jumping the gun by asking for Cech to be benched after a few shaky games? Looked solid vs Everton. Will Emery prove us wrong?

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech, 36, says he is playing for his future at the Gunners as he is in the last year of his contract and faces competition for his place from German summer signing Bernd Leno, 26. (Evening Standard)

When you've taken the dog lead off it's hook for the last time and are at the vets reception waiting quietly and all teary eyed, do you think they know that they won't be coming back through that door again once they've shuffled in?

To me, Cech is like the clever, faithful old dog that has picked up on the doleful tones and solemn looks of his owners as terms like 'he's struggling to walk never mind run' keep being banded about, and is now acting like he's the Andrex puppy, has buried the lead and keeps hiding under the bed on hearing the word vet or door.

Whilst Bernd Leno may indeed be the future and make good argument to be our number one no.1 now, I point to the mess that was Liverpool's goal keeping situation last year.

If we were to drop our veteran (calm down boy, I said veteran) keeper without him having reverted to his 2017-18 self, there would effectively be no way back and in the event of Leno dropping a bollock or two and needing to be taken out of the firing line, we'd be going cap in hand back to a guy we told wasn't good enough for us anymore, rather than the other way around. God knows how that helps progress the back four. Shades of mignolet/karius anyone?

Hamstring injuries are tricky to manage and can reoccur if not completely treated.

He should take 3 to 4 years off.

Honestly, never like to see a player injured, but this does have the benefit of giving Leno a run of games without having to drop Cech.
