Nice one!

Re: 79 photo, I'd forgotten how big Willie Young and Alan Sunderland wore their hair!

I'll try and ignore the fact that Frank "traitor" Stapleton already has his ManUre shirt on.....

Agree. The best chant in football.

The greatest Highbury image:

That is stunning. I don't think I've seen it before. When's it from? 50's?

I remember subscribing to the arsenal magazine a few years ago and they gave this picture away as part of the deal
It is of the 2nd game under floodlights at highbury 17th October 1951
Arsenal 3 Glasgow rangers 2 in a friendly
Ps sorry vavavoom I did'nt realise that you had already given out this info

1971 FA Cup Final.

Boiling hot day. The team had clinched the League Title the previous week at white hart lane, after a long and gruelling season.

0-0 at full time. Liverpool took the lead in extra time, before Arsenal equalised through Eddie Kelly. Then with minutes to go, John Radford passed the ball inside to Charlie George, who controlled it beautifully, before smacking it past Clemence at the near post.

The photograph captures George's glory, the delight of Bob McNab, and relief from Frank McClintock, who looks like he's about to collapse.

:arse flag.gif: Just discovered this thread.........those two pics above are just AWESOOOOOOMMMMMEEEE!!!!!! :arse flag.gif:

The one above was the moment that sealed my lifelong attachment to the Arsenal, being at an age (9) when most of my classmates were Chelsea fans and wanted to support someone different. I live in Surrey and my Dad came from Tottenham and my Mum from Winchmore Hill and her family were all Arsenal.

I remember being at a family gathering (aged about 8) when Uncle Sid was talking about 'the team' and I said which team? He looked at me and said......there's only one team! Jeez.... thats nearly 50 years ago!

Yeah that season sealed it for me too.

Been hooked ever since.

One thing I didn't mention about that photo is they all have their socks down, with no shin pads. And it was a lot more physical then.

Yeah I remember playing with socks around my ankles.....it felt so much lighter and you never seemed to get bad injuries for some reason. Okay the odd stud in the shin, but that was not considered much in those days!
