Spouting off about our fans, recording with Jorginho ‘it’s coming rome’ all this bullshit rubbing it in rather than just celebrating. He was bad enough on the pitch last night and he’s ugly as f**k which doesn’t help.

Ah well, that's just part of it - to the victor go the spoils.
I saw it when Germany beat England in 96 also.
It's a reaction to the build-up TBH... and that 'coming home' song.

Exactly.
Even if Southgate pre-picked the players it doesn't make his penalty any more understandable - it makes it worse. He would have been practising pens a lot. I can't believe for a second that he practised that run up! He just lost his head.

Well if we had won he wouldn't be able to say anything and if he did no one would of cared, they won, they have the platform.

We gave that to them, this is why I picked Italy, yes we were better first half but I know all of our tell tale weaknesses ............

1 - If we go in front we'll crawl into a shell and stop playing football then if they score we're stuck in 2nd gear needing a goal.

2 - We'd crumble on penalties because Italy are mentally stronger and more mature.

Tbf the only thing I got wrong was Italy out playing us, we let them outplay us when we backed off all 2nd half and allowed the game to slow to a Serie A pace instead of the Prem pace we set in the first half .......... we unwinded from there and by the time we switched the pace back up in 2nd half of extra time, it was too late.

People have to stop giving these trolls airtime and column inches ......... I mean what did everyone expect, that no one in the whole of England was going to troll to get attention?

The problem I have with this is there could be only 20 racist tweets in the whole of England and yet that becomes the headline.

This is never going to go away, as soon as I saw "England players get racial abuse online"

Like, who fkin cares, its "online" do you know how many thousands of trolls there are out there, online means nothing and people need to start treating as such, we can't let online comments from randoms become the story all the time, its like allowing Twitter to dominate our social narrative.

In the old days you knew when there was proper racism because you'd see the National Front having a march, now its some sad sappy 16 yr old on Twitter looking for attention, its ot the same thing.

I totally agree with you, stop giving them airtime. The BBC wetting itself to bring us the news, first on its headline. There will always be racists, sexists, rapist etc we have to have laws to deal with it and throw the book at them, more difficult online I know. We all enjoy social media, we have to put up with the negatives or get rid of it.

Bottom line is that the occasion was too much for this team.
Went a goal up early, but as soon as Italy started to get some possession they panicked.
I saw the long ball hoof come back into play. Sideways and backwards meaningless passes return. Panicked passes (Henderson was most guilty of this when he came on). Team just stopped playing. They froze.
The penalties were just another example. Panic.
All that said, they did very well be get to a final and I hope the experience will help the group handle it better if there is a next time.

It was also yet another example of how the highest-profile players are not the best players.
Most of those Italy players wouldn't get close to a top 4 PL team or be valued at even a quarter of the fee Utd just played for Sancho, for example.
Also another example of the media and pundits going overboard.

Mason Mount - listening to the media and pundits, you'd think he was the new Ronaldo. He isn't. He's not very good at all.
Foden - always hear how utterly brilliant he is. He isn't. He was out of his depth. Compare him to Italy's Chiesa. Well actually, don't, because there is no comparison. Foden is not good enough and Chiesa is excellent.
Sterling - BBC pundits claiming he was player of the tournament before the match - no. He had an average to ok tournament. He didn't do badly but he was one of our most wasteful players through the whole tournament. His 3 goals balanced that out.
even Saka - he did very well, much better than Mount or Foden, but I would say that is in the context of his age and experience. Exclude those elements and he was just OK.

The players that REALLY performed were Phillips, Rice, Walker and Shaw. Not the so-called 'stars'.

If England want to take it to the next level and make a World Cup final or even win it, they have to dispense with the continued flaw of picking players based on reputation.
Mount should not be any future England squad unless he improves - a LOT.
Foden is at best a back up.
Sterling needs to become more of a team player or should be dropped.
Pickford needs to work on his distribution or should be dropped.
McGuire needs to be told that the only time he should be hoofing the ball upfield is if he is clearing an immediate danger.
Kane needs to up his work rate.

Lots to work on , but still a positive tournament for England.

AMEN.

Politicians latch on to it for votes. Boris Johnson being the latest idiot. No other reason. If they actually cared then they would have been all over this when it was an actual big issue in this country. They didn't care then.
The media push it for clicks and views. No other reason. If there was another reason they would have dealt with these issues (instead of actually being part of these issues for decades, broadcasting racism so the nation could laugh at it) when it was an actual issue in this country.

There is a very tiny minority of idiots having their putrid views amplified into a general problem that simply does not exist.

The stated goal seems to be to eradicate racism from football completely - 100% - no incidents ever. Well then, just cancel football, because the goal is never going to be achieved. Alternatively, STFU about a tiny minority and understand that the massively overwhelming majority of people in this country had absolutely no thought in their heads at all about Saka's, Sancho's or Rashford's skin colour when they missed their penalties.

Taking the knee must continue as well.

Last 24 hours has shown why it's important

Anyone still having a problem with the fight against racism is part of the problem

It really wasn't a stupid arrogant song. The song was about England's failures, the coming home bit was about England hosting a major tournament. But heyho, people believe what they want to believe.

Anyway, I'm proud of them all and they gave us alot to cheer about after a terrible 18 months. Singing the stupid songs was all part of it. Thank you England squad and management. I'm pleased for the Italian people who have also had a really tough time, I'll never forget those pictures from the Lombardy region of Italy when their health care provsisions were snowed under.
