Pretty sure the majority of the forum were saying we'd lose this and end up 6th behind Utd. Now that we've won, the talk has shifted to "Imagine if PEA didn't miss that pen against Spurs, we'd have been 4th!"

The positive thing about finishing 5th is with the EL final we will have no choice but to put 200% into that game. If we finished 3rd like we had so many chances to we would if been a bit more relaxed and maybe blown what is such an important game for us as a club.

I've been saying that the whole 90mins during the game.

Too much negativity amongst our fans, start moaning even before the result.

We won because there was no pressure. Funny we win last game when top 4 is gone. Typical arsenal sums us up them in nutshell

We don't have the players to win the pl. Top 4 is attainable but 5th n 6th is also very much our level. Shouldn't be too bothered. Let's win El and get into cl. 5 English teams in tournament will be something to talk about. Hopefully it's pool winning trophy and not Spurs.

Not a single soul predicted a loss in the predictions thread. :dontknow:

A handful of pessimists and doom-and-gloomers do not account for a whole community.

You're calling out negativity whilst simultaneously adding to it with the very same post by painting the majority of the forum with the same brush.

A healthy dose of heed and nuance wouldn't go amiss. :Peace:

I said the majority of the forum , not the piddling 10 posts in the predictions thread.

Look at the state of this place after Spurs won on Wednesday, or after we drew v Brighton on Sunday. All it takes is a couple of pieces of bad news for people to start talking about sacking the whole squad and bringing in Arteta to manage.

Just because people pretend to be totally calm and rational after two thumping wins doesn't balance out the stench of negativity that's forum-wide.

You accused the 'majority of the forum' for predicting a loss for today's game, but don't have the evidence to back it up. Inevitably, of course, because that simply never occurred.

The few people that did in fact make a prediction are the ones in the predictions thread and each and every one of them predicted a win for Arsenal.

Which is fair, but Eddie had a good finish and deserved praise. Young up and comer, shows some promise. Deserves a kind word for his goal.

Like on Thursday when you went walkies after aubas goal?

Maybe you missed that too. There was a lot of built up pressure after your doomsday posting when they opened the scoring

Exactly to the point.

Some act like a manager can defend or make passes for us the way they go on.

Give klopp Burnley and lets see if he makes a CL final, he's with a team who spent £80m on a CB ........... more than Emery's entire summer budget.

Players are more important to success than a manager, any half decent manager can set up for a team of stars, give Barcelona Eddie Howe, does Messi forget how to play football over night?

You really wanna have this debate lol. We completely bottled top 4. Last 4 games before this we managed 1 point when we were favorite for top 4. Loss vs palace, wolves and leicester and still win vs brighton would give us good chance. At home we couldbt do that. So when top 4 is all but gone and no pressure they win the last game and wanna act like they proved something? They proved their reputation to be right. And going to final means nothing if they dont win. Winning at burnley doesnt mean they have proven sh1t. If they turn up at the final and win then they have proven they are not bottlers

Two ways to look at the season:
1) Given what Emery inherited, finishing 5th and only being a point off top 4 is a near miracle.
2) We bottled it (worse than we ever have) and threw away a top 4 place.

Or maybe a bit of both.
Whatever - over for another year. Another year of horrendous defending and basic errors with little display of courage.

I really hope Emery has spotted that he needs a massive over haul of the defence and also a wide player would will actually beat players. Seems like a long time ago we had one of those.

Overall pretty amazing to think that even though we blew chance after chance to get in the top 4, we only needed to have beaten Brighton to have found ourselves in 4th place and probably 3rd.
