This is why I'm worried. Call me negative, but we look like a mid-table club these days.

There's no vision. Emery acts like a poor man's Jose. And, he doesn't have half the charisma.

Emery is small team manager. Today it was a match between small team vs big team. smaller team fought wth everything they had to keep up, but ran out of steam and it became easier and easier as time went on. This is standard match between big team vs small team. . Emery outside psg has always managed small teams built to frustrate and outwork bigger teams. So you cant blame him having small mentality, he tried that at psg and the players went to the board and he was told to knock it off. You constantly hear psg wasnt built to how he wanted and for their own sake thank god. If people think arsenal will compete with big teams under him and this board, they live in fantasy world

We are a small team compared to City, look at the money they have spent and the resources they have compared to us, add to that our 3 best performing defenders this season out injured and what do people expect? Even with everyone fit we would struggle and in fairness we were in the game coming up to half time only to be undone by a brilliant goal.
People are criticising lichsteiner as well, he hasn't been great but he didn't get embarrassed any more than bellerin or Montreal have by sterling in the past.
Fact is we need an overhaul, we need to wait till the summer to see it, we have ozil on the bench earning 350k a week, he will be gone in the summer, so will more of the deadwood, there is no way anyone can really judge Emery as he has had no time and no money given to him.
Even with all that in mind we will still struggle because we don't have the resources to compete with, Man city, man utd, Chelsea and the fact we are up there with Chelsea and man utd is a massive over achievement when you look at expenditure.
Hopefully in the summer if we get the £70 million that's being reported and sell ozil and a few others we can have over £100 million to reinforce the squad, we have some decent strikers, if we can get a world class winger and world class defender alongside what we have now and we are a different team, entirely achievable with that kind of budget but we will see what happens.

we are a small team in terms of mentality more than anything. How we approach things are small team. Also why would ozil be gone n the summer. He has contract to 2021 and is on 350k

Agreed. We were so good last season as well... F.U Emery.

We don’t look any better than last season. OGS has managed a bigger turn around in 2 months than Unai has in 8

OGS has a f***ing title challenging squad. We have slow shitty midfielders playing wing. f***ing suck compared to the rich teams.

Does he really though ?

We have world class attacking players in Auba, Laca and Ozil - I’d expect us to at least show more attacking prowess than we have this season

Yes he does his goal keeper alone is better than our whole defense. And ozil is done .

Man United have just as terrible defensive players as us.. Sure DDG is great, but their defense is still shit.. OGS knows what their strengths are and plays to that.. Emery on the other hand knows the defense is shit, yet he continue to play negative football and doesn't use his attacking players that he has.. No one in their right mind can't tell me the Auba, Laca, Ozil, Torreira, Ramsey and Xhaka as a front 4 is can't stand toe to toe with Lakaku, Sanchez, Martial, Rashford, Pogba, Herrera and Matic?

They better.

in what way?

we still would've looked clueless. there were no attacking ideas going forward other than booting it to the strikers and making kolasinac and iwobi bomb up field

Probably wouldn't need to play 3 CBS.

Don't get me wrong I'm all for giving him time but his worth ethic when he came on was very poor.

He got dispossed once, and gave the ball away once.
10 of his 11 passes found their target.
They are the stats.
He played 24 minutes.

Just the stats - obviously 24mins into a new league it's a bit difficult to judge.
I'm looking forward to seeing how he progresses.

City and pool are the teams right now. We have to build our squad properly to get to that level in. Ext few years. If that is our goal. The shit investment says otherwise.

Such a difficult game:

How many have bemoaned Emery for not playing Laca and Auba together? yet we saw today that when we don't have possession, and City were always going to have +60% today, then playing them both is just a waste of a player, Auba might as well not have been on the pitch and Laca wasn't much better. That's not knocking their ability it's just the way that they both play is totally unsuited to this type of minimum possession game.

With two wasted players up top we were left short in the middle, Torreira and Guendo were our best players they fought hard to stop us being overrun, Iwobi was the forward link, and then Ramsey tried to do the same but neither got a look in against Fernandinho and Silva. So that's five outfield players with only two having any real impact.

You look at the back five and it's scary Lich, Mus, Kos, Mon, Kol .... that's a championship defence not a top EPL side and it showed, City just cut them apart 19 shots 12 on target .... and honestly City didn't play all that well, they didn't need to.

Not sure what Emery could have done different, certainly one of Auba/Laca should not have started. could he have started Ozil or would he have been invisible? maybe Ramsey or Suarez as an extra midfield player from the start ... honestly with the gulf in class it would it have made much difference?

Our manager 's quality is aligned with the sqaud quality. If the team is sixth best, so do our manager. U pay for what u get.

Emery could have the same budget as Man City and still lost that game. You only have to look at his PSG Champs League record against the big sides. The Prem is super competitive and we're in a back foot on both fronts. We don't have the budget and even if we did we have the wrong manager.

Good news is players like Auba and Kolasinac should enjoy this game. Bad news is that whatever good they do may not matter when we have players like Lichtsteiner and Mustafi at the back.

Auba will have less than 10 touches entire game. This is going to be a drubbing

You are not wrong at all. Manchester City is going to enjoy 75-80% possession against us.

59 percent
