Mustafi won't be back for full training until next week.

Bellerin won't be back for full training until 2 weeks time (massive blow).

Mavrapanos still not returned to training in December when December is almost over.

Mkhitaryan and Kolasinac being assessed ahead of Burnley tomorrow.

This isn't good.

Sounds to me like we could be seeing Xhaka, Sokratis and Kos as a back 3 again.

If Emery does this again, I will be fuming. It quite clearly doesn't work. One of those players isn't a centre-half (and it shows!) and the other is a 33-year old crock who isn't reliable.

The likes of Barnes, Vokes or Wood will have a field day if we field a defence like we did against Spurs/So'ton.

What I'd like to see (though it's not ideal):

Leno, Lichtsteiner, Sokratis, Medley, Monreal/Kolasinac; Xhaka, Torreira; Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang, Lacazette.

Agreed.

Was watching AFTV and Claude actually made a really good point, Xhaka has been playing well partnered with Torreia, so why weaken the midfield and reduce Xhaka's performance by putting him in a 3 man CB defense?

Just play fkin 4 at the back and put Xhaka in midfield, just instruct Torreia to make sure he stays deep when we're out of possession to help the CB's.

I don't know why he's obsessed with 3 at the back all of a sudden?

Agreed, and the match stats proved it. Our midfielders have made ten final third entries in the first half and then zero in the second half.

I think the midfield is a concern as well. Without Torreira our midfield looks soft, weak and losing majority of the 50-50 balls.

MOTD highlights showed f**k all btw, tried to make us look like divers and ignored all of Burnley’s fouls...didn’t even show the headlock :dontknow:

Kola was a bit lucky but long went down soft, not sure why they showed xhaka falling over as if it was a dive.

I think we can debate about everything under Emery, but not about our ability to play hard ball. The squad is not afraid to play it rough and dirty now. Teams like Watford and Burnley have tried and failed. I like this part of our game.
Dyche and Barnes were clearly upset. All that I can say to them is "You asked for it!". They tried to play it their way and we accepted their challenge.

Agendas need to be met. They had 2 games where they could lay into us but this win stopped it so they've reverted to implying we cheated our way to victory.

Same reason vardys forced contact dives and sons general antics are largely ignored, or how Burnley can literally kick shit out of us but nothing is said about that 'tactic'.

The media are pissed off because they predicted a collapse after Wenger leaving. For years they said 'be careful what you wish for'. So we've made them look like absolute mugs.

It was absolutely shameful from a self proclaimed tough as nails team.

I am happy with the performance and result today. We are in an injury crisis now, many of our players are either played out of positions or have been played too much and suffered fatigue and not showing their best. At least we have shown to people that we on the same level as liverpool, man utd, tottenham in recent games.

Tbh premier league referees are only getting worse. The sooner VAR comes the better imo.
