Mostly it was the build up play from the back. The attack is still a mess and inconsistent due to player changes , no patterns formed yet.And no starting 11 decided.SO in good time attack will work itself out.

Chambers and Holding have taken to the plays way better than the other cbs. There was some good stuff building up from the back. We have definitely not built from the back like that under wenger to my memeory. The way players positionally moved had confidence in passing at the back using the goalie. The cbs splitting themselves for the holding player to come pick up the ball was big change. Opened up the pitch and gave players time on the ball and into free spaces. Also works nicely for counters. Really good stuff.

Leno is fast across the box really fast. He's gonna pull of some silly saves in the league. Overall not a bad game ,not a great game you could see parts of the training happening on field. Its gonna take a while once confidence and game wins happen bit ,by bit emerys style will be imprinted in the team. Its gonna take a while for us to look good there is going to be a lot of meh 1/2-0 games like this. But with each game improvements will happen.

agreed
those two definitely look more comfortable playing out while Sokratis looks shaky and the fact he is not fast means any give away at the back would be problems. I hate to keep harping on this lol but the role of having the holding player drop in with the cbs to initiate play Guendouzi just been sooo much better than everyone else which for me is good n bad because I doubt we start him in first game

Some real positives though.

Lichtsteiner looks like a really clever defender. His experience will be invaluable. Torreira looks very cool on the ball. Lacazette and Aubameyang look very sharp. Elneny looked good when he came on. So did Mikhitaryan.

I think we’ll do well this season.

the stadium was half empty. Greedy from both clubs with the ticket prices. The cheapest one was 35 pound and the most expensive was 250 pound. Most tickets were around 60 pound

↑ Ridiculous ticket prices for a pre-season friendly.

With more reasonable tariffs (£20-£150) we could potentially have filled the stadium and topped yesterday's matchday revenue.

Guess the attempt of trying to fleece the 'rich' Scandinavians proved fruitless

You know Sokratis was a bad buy when people still want Mustafi starting over him.

Our defense needs a major over-haul.

I know Emery is trying to instill his defensive philosophy but we have some seriously flawed defenders.

Our best defender is LichtSteiner, and that is very telling.

I am sorry but we are not making top 4 in the league with this defense.

By the time we get defense sorted people will be saying we need a new striker again... Vicious circle

I've my doubts over Sokratis but it's ludicrous to write him off based on pre-season performances.

They play exactly like the many poor teams in the premier league.

Lazio would be a top 8 team in the premier league

Sven seems terrible at getting defenders/gks

Our defense is worse now than it was last season

Played 6 this year haven't we? 5 in this match day area and the 'secret' one against Crawley.

Anyway, thanks, just feels like we've had lots this year. Guess they've almost all big against big teams though.

My takeaway from the game ............

Formation wise I think we looked more compact and comfortable with the 4-2-1-2-1

AMN looks better at LB than midfield, I said this last season and its still true, if he wants to be a top regarded player if I were him I'd focus on being a Full back, compared to lets say Guendouzi, AMN is more value to the team at LB.

Xhaka compared to Guendouzi was practically anonymous.

Laca & Auba partnership looking good.
