He was seeing it out anyway. Id rather have a trophy at the end of this shit show of a season.

This is true.

But if we win this there will be a resurgence of Wenger's minions saying he should stay.

A league cup wont get much traction.

A league cup and 4th / cup double and CL qualification would probably cause enough momentum.

You make your own luck. Had Monreal not put his head to that ball we would not have equalized. Had Lacazette not attempted that cross and had Xhaka not made that run into the box we would not have got the winner. We fully deserved the win imo

make your own luck... off TWO heads , theirs... never saw that before... and i bet
you'd have to search thousands of hours of film to see the last time it happened anywhere...
i'll take it, as i said...

we were much better in 2nd half than they...

still

that was some crazy lucky caroms... and like i said we been on the other end so...

Even though they were fortuitous, you push for it and hope it comes through. It's not like Chelsea had tons of chances to beat us comfortably.

Overall a good game, just reading through the thread and had a good laugh at the number of comments gooney dished out until nacho equalised, at which point he misteriously vanished. :rofll:

Nacho is mr.consistent. If we are going to continue to use him at lb we should maybe try kolasinac in mid as a box to box type and add his physicality and mobility in there. Nacho and ainsley as his backup .this would be a good formation

Remember that time hazard fell over in our box to get a pen?

Remember that time drogba had a ball bounce off his shin to score the only goal in the game against us?

Remember that time rooney hit a ball off two players and it looped in off coqulins trailling leg?

Remember when robben flopped over in the penalty area and bought a pen after ozil missed a pen?

Remember when the ball cannoned off koscielny in the league cup final to win them the cup?

I remember.

It is what it is. A huge slice of fortune to win yesterday but how many times have we been on the recieivng end of some fuckery, only for everyone to pile in after we lose. Loads of times.

This time it was chelseas turn. If they really wanted to win, they would have mustered more than 2 shots on target the whole game and 0 shots on target for the second half.

Like crimson said, you make your own luck.

I love how we have become Chelsea's bogey team recently, dumping them out of cups left right and centre and more than holding our own against them in league fixtures. Feels good to get some payback considering how they used to absolutely dominate us back in the day with Drogba et al.

exactly what i was getting at... enjoying it cos we been done in many times, but also orishas to the futbol gods...

its nice sticking thorns in chelsea's side, but it'd be nicer if we were winning something while doing it... (FA/ carabao is "nice" but it aint EPL or UCl by a longshot)

Terrible first half from us. Goal was a joke and once again highlights the lack of communication in this team.

Pros
Monreal
Elneny defensive performance
Ozil
Jack
Iwobi's shift
Lacca's workrate

Cons
Ospina
Elneny distribution
Service to Lacca
XHAKA!!!!

I think we deserved the win.

I honestly believe with the additions of Miki and Auba and the lack of defensive brainfarts, this team will get back into the top 4 this season.

your team wins a game to put them in a cup final (even if its a pony one), first thing you do? find a tweet about conte and mourinho that has 0 likes and retweets and post it on here

All in a sudden the League Cup have some value here.
Remember the days I was blamed for not calling it Mickey Mouse Cup

All of a sudden ?
Was absolutely delighted when we came from behind to beat Spurs in the 1987 league cup semi final and two deflected goals in the final to beat liverpool
I never saw Mickey Mouse in the wonderland that was wembley
