The initial contact was a penalty there's no two ways about it.

If Rodriguez had wanted it, he shouldn't have played on and hit the post, but he did. Then Livermore makes a dreadful hash of the rebound.

They had two chances following the contact to score and didn't so that's their fault for not taking their opportunities or settling for the pen.

Our pen was a penalty. Certain people would argue against us if it was us, but they weren't level shoulder to shoulder and nyom had no chance of getting the ball.

Sanchez was impeded in the area and we should have had a pen for that. Their defender nearly took his shirt off.

Finally, Dawson should have been red carded on 70 mins for a blatant second yellow but the ref let them off.

All in all, it was evens if not more in favour of them.

I'm surprised people are making it out like we weren't hard done by by the ref either.

ref was awful for the entire game but more so in their favour than ours, should be demoted after this game imo.

theirs could've gone either way but sure they'd rather have the pen so should give
2 pens not given for us, 1 on sanchez can't remember the other dude but it was before alexis...
our pen was clear as day - only thing he really got right
dawson not getting a red card was criminal
alexis getting booked for nothing about 5 mins after the ref gave them a throw in when clearly it was ours

we absolutely dominated the second half and they didn't even have a f***ing sniff. they played well in first half but we also f***ked about and messed up enough attacks...half time could've been 5-5 if u score every chance but hey guess what...not how it goes.

Arsenal was the better team.

Only thing i didn't like about today was it was stark to me how competition wise we are at the level we deserve.

We are barely if even not a top 4 side, we do belong in the europa at the moment and im tired of us pretending otherwise.

We are getting by but having to fight for it every game and 5 mins of pretty football when we're up doesn't make us an elite side.

We're so far behind Manchester its not even funny, also we're now truly behind spurs and liverpool.

Fact is unless we get AOL going its not going to get any better.

we're not elite and have not been for a decade...

i feel we can go toe to toe with big teams if we play sanely

Once again, we were heavily pressed and didn't have an answer for it. We just don't have players or a manager good enough to break a well organized defense. Any quality team would have beat us last night.

Thats what i was saying above, performances like yesterday used to be our off days, now its our level, we celebrate a draw against chelsea like Bournemouth would, not dissing the result but until we get aol in full flow we need to be realistic.

Agreed!

Right it's possible to appreciate the 3 pts and the hard work put in, but still criticize our weaknesses.

They should have had a penalty which they may have missed but with us having scored one at this stage and them having scored none they should not be winning
The goalposts and goal keeper remain a valid way of avoiding conceding

Simplistic way of looking at it.

If WBA can create clear cut chances v us then wth are city, utd etc gonna do?

So youre saying we should take each game as it is and not look to past games.

For example if we are defensively shit as we have been this season, it doesn't mean anything going in to the next game and future games?
