Not been following the pre season games much but has Wenger reverted back to the 4-2-3-1 formation like todays game.

Why is he not playing a back 3 which was looking promising towards the end of last season.

I used to work with a man u fan and used to constantly take the p1ss out of him about how sh1t welbeck is. He used to always say he is not there to score goals.....he is there to stretch teams. We used to call him defensive striker. The joke was on me though as we signed him when he wasnt good enough for united

The difference was really just concentration, and clinical finishing. We weren't switched on 10 minutes either side of half time and paid for it

Anyone else this new system will mean less possession and control of matches. It seems like we have not good enough defenders so lets pyt an extra body there.

we are not a possession based team anymore anyway, not like circa 2008. Playing on the counter suits most of our players tbh

I don't care about the result but I do care about losing 3-0 and the performance being so poor.

Its not a good sign. This club is always in this cycle of mediocrity, good against shit sides, loose against any side that has quality and is well drilled.

Why is everyone obsessed with 3 at the back. Just cos it's effective in certain scenarios doesn't (or shouldn't) mean we're fixed to it for the entire season. Wenger needs to stop being a one trick pony and vary his tactics based on the opposition.

wenger changed formation after many years.....he may change again after several years. He has never been one to change tactics during the season. He believes in one way of playing and dont believe players are smart enough to adapt to different tactics during the season

I know it's preseason and Lacazette needs time to settle in but Giroud looked fitter and hungrier than Lacazette.

Because giroud is the better player. It is very simple

He has been like that for years, he ain't gonna change now, still expect nothing and when we get FA we won't be disappointed.
