That doesn't make him good enough to start regularly alongside Koscielny. We need better.

Shawcross more than good enough for prem games imo. Stoke defence falls apart without him, he's a leader and a solid player.

Shawcross is in the huth/morgan category, under a good tactician that has a solid team shape, defends deep, forces teams out wide and doesn't over expose itself on the counter he wiill do well.

Laurent Koscielny is back in training [on Monday] but he might be short for next week. If Gabriel is out, Per Mertesacker is out and Koscielny not ready - that’s a lot of players.
