Clear pen and fair result imo. We rode our luck against them in the previous game.

Think it stems from the "too little time to do anything about it" and "arm in natural position" thing.

It's pretty pants that it's a very grey area, where it basically comes down to ref's opinion on the matter. An opinion made in a split second, without the benefit of a replay, with all the technology on hand.

People often say this kind of thing is what makes football so special. I disagree. Football should be about the 22 men on the pitch. It should never be about the 23rd man on the pitch.

Like TA said, bottom of the table team shouldn't be giving us problems. We are shit, and all our performances scream it.

If it didn't hit his arm, it would have hit his body. That's how much of a natural position his arm is.

Im just as pissed off but you can see his arm move and then controls the ball. Can see why its given if it happens at other end we would be screaming for a pen.

No. He was three yards away. Normally refs ignore even fully extended arms from this distance unless it was heading directly for goal.
Poor decision.

he's always haviing his arm within the frame of his abdomen/trunk...

Yeah, he should have stretched his arms out as wide as possible to avoid the ball hitting him on them :dizzy:

Honestly how can anyone think this is a handball ffs.

The referee.

Regardless, maybe we shouldn't be just scrapping by bottom of the league teams then we wouldn't have this problem.

Our football from open play was fkin shocking today, all we do is rely on Ozil and Sanchez to win us games, we're a two man team and both of them are going.

Wenger should of been sacked last year but only at Arsenal do we reward failure.

It wasn't a pen, but like the majority of Wenger players, Chambers was too stupid to know that Mike Dean was the ref and to have had his arms down. He handed Dean his chance and he gleefully took it. Brainless Arsenal players are very common under Wenger.

I don't think it was a fair result. I thought WBA deserved to win.

Still doesn't mean Mike Dean wasn't directly to blame. It has to be deliberate hand ball. If that's a penalty, we should have had 20

Boys, in real time and certain camera angles it looks like the worst decision in the world. However, from the view Mike Dean had and in slow motion it actually looks like Chambers raises his arm, so you can see why it was given. But harsh !!!
