And bring in Vardy and Dier? Go home mate, you been out in the sun too much.

Vardy and Rashford

I'd keep Alli in if hes fit though but end of the road for Sterling

Hes so bad

Hmm maybe, the young Danny Welbeck is better than Vardy, that's for sure.

If you lot don't get to the final you should just cancel the England national team

England should have taken another GK instead of Vardy. He is f***ing awful. So glad we didn't sign him.

We have won once in 8 competitive games v them

That one being Euro 2012 when Sir Theo scored the GOAT goal

Welbeck also scored

But yeah we aren't favourites

Is England's long ball game good or harmful?

Postby matelot » Wed Jul 04, 2018 8:51 am

Gareth Southgate has stressed that he want's his England team to play the percentage game.Lots of balls played into the box with a large emphasis on winning dangerous free-kicks and spot kicks in whatever way possible(Seven of the nine goals scored have been through set plays). With little use of ball playing midfielders and well crafted goal attempts it seems the England team is told to just scrap it out.The game against Colombia showed that it can work, though the game was a cross bar away from an England exit.Should a nation the size of England with the most lucrative domestic league in the world have a more expansive national team or are you happy with a return to Graham Taylor type early 1990's football?

From here on in it's knockout football and it doesn't matter how you win

If England go full Stoke and Ork their way to the WC I don't care

If they all start punting 60 yard passes ala Graham Taylor I don't care either

We won in 1966 with it, so why not?

Old tactics are new again.

literally one of the biggest problems against colombia is we didn't hoof it up to vardy enough and were playing out from the back too much.

If a Spaniard plays a 50 yard ball to a forward it's called a world class through ball

If an Englishman does it it's called a hoof

Hoof the ball where?

Colombia never played with a high line - hoofing the ball would have made life easy for their defense.

Nothing easier than dealing with long aerial balls when you're sitting deep as a unit against an isolated striker.
