Well we don't have any good midfielders so it's a smart move.

Plus imagine how many broken legs if we played tiki taka against Colombia, christ.

Yeah after Sweden, we're under dogs all the way, just have to accept it, use our in form defense and hit on the break.

Our defense is actually very good, that I'll give them.

They play 5 at the back miles better than Arsenal did when we tried it.

My biggest gripe is Ali and Sterling have been sh*t going forward and stifled us using Kane properly.
Sterling is not doing well playing in the hole and Ali is a non participant.

The only thing again I'll give the midfield credit for is defensively.

Lingard and Ali should be stretching oppositions and getting in crosses or passes to Kane and they aren't, Sterling just keeps giving the ball away.

Our defence have conceded in every game. 2 of those to genuine pub sides in Tunisia and panama. A Belgian B side and a Colombia side more interested in attacking players than attacking the goals.

We've been shit but we got through. Stuff of champions.

It's coming home.

Not sure why people don't think we are favourites....cos as far as the Bookies are concerned, we most definitely are!

We know from history its going to be tight, so if we are going to go all the way and bring it home, we are going to need a few things to go our way, starting on Saturday. Luck plays a huge part in tight games, so just hoping we get most of it.

Fair points, its the creativity we are missing for sure. Can't help thinking that Jack playing at 95% could unlock some of these defences, that so we've failed to crack. I know everyone is giving Sterling massive gip, but at least he's trying things and we only need it to come off once or twice.

No point going on about players who aren't there, but I do wonder why Jack went off the boil in the final dozen games of the season....was he protecting himself for the WC I wonder? We'll never know for sure, but we could do with some of his killer passes.

For England? Good off course. I don't think they have enough technical ability for midfield battles against teams like Belgium or Croatia. Long ball, dead ball and speed is the way to go.

Games were exciting, I enjoyed watching us play. Better than passing it sideways on the half way line for ninety minutes Wengerball style!

Spurs players let us down badly, except Trippier.
Kane, Ali, Rose and Dier were awful - especially Kane in the knockout stages - he was crap, though not as bad as Dele Ali.

Should England Overlook Spurs Players

Postby matelot » Sun Jul 15, 2018 8:44 am

Spurs players have always been great at talking themselves up,excellent when it comes to set plays and winning free kicks and penalties. They are also very good at seeing off minnows in group stages.
Yet when it came to the crunch in this years WC against sides who were supposed to be on their level they caved in and showed no winning mentality.
Is it time England finally gave up on these players?
