He didn't even get booked for it ffs.

VAR is class though apparently :dontknow:

Shearer spot on with his comments after the match.

VAR is good imo but FIFA needs to clarify how it's going to be used. Does the ref need to ask for assistance or will the video assistant referees notify him when he's made a mistake? So far it's looking like its the former. If they're adamant that it has to stay that way then they need to add a "challenge" system similar to the one in Tennis where the coach would be able to appeal a decision 3 times during a game. Regardless it can't stay this way, it's too shady and considering FIFAs reputation i wouldn't be surprised if they left it that way on purpose.

Don't get why it's so hard to use it for clear mistakes. If the ref has made a mistake then tell him to review it and he gets a second chance to make the right call.

At least if there was 1 clear rule for when it's used then you just take the refs final decision and move on, as you would without VAR. Can't get it right 100% even with the TV screens because people will always disagree but at least be consistent and get 99% right.

Currently it's a joke.

work not conducive to watching on smartt phone today

is VAR being used for fouls? ( someone said sometghing about pique above)

Yep, haven't seen if Aspas offside but VAR says he was on so goal given. BS pen for Iran, resounding view is ridiculous call, VAR given.

VAR was used for something the ref missed with Ronaldo and he got booked. Wasn't used for Pique 2 foot tackle, no foul or card given.

Consistency.... :dontknow:

gotta remember that its down to the refs in the millennium falcon and their opinion of whats red and whats not too

ive liked it so far and of course theres gonna be bumps with something new but itll only improve over time

think of the confederations cup, it was rubbish and unclear back then, its a lot better and understandable now in one year

Have you not seen the Portugal v Iran game?

love island > football

i was getting at this in another thread...

there are ALOT of not well taken pens that are converted b/c the keeper dove the wrong way.

But the you could argue every single one of Hazard's penalties are poor, yet he rarely misses because it's his technique to wait and then roll it in.

so...watching hilighlights... cr7's initial no call converted to pen, i agree. a pen. stepped across his path never made play on ball, contact in area.

iran pen... know what? if the defender had never raised his arm over his head, no pen. i say soft pen.

he jumps with his arm over his head. unatural position. i traced his arm with a yellow line.
