Standout team so far is Russia imo, see how Japan n Senegal get on in the next games.

Big teams have all flopped, even those with 4 n 6 points.

As for Euros, 2004 says hi

I actually supported Portugal in the Final.

Euro 2004 was a stellar tournament with spectacular showings by the Czech Republic and Portugal. Greece winning it doesn't take away from what was a very entertaining tournament. Euro 2016 was a chore with the winner winning only one game in standard time. Meh.

The fact that Portugal are so difficult to beat will work to their advantage in the World Cup.

For the GOAT, Portugal.

Order of pleasure:
England
Germany
Portugal
Spain
France
Croatia

Would be immense to see Modric holding the WC.

Why would Germany winning give you pleasure when they just won the last time? Never a fan of the same country winning it twice (well, unless it's your home country or first team).

I would have wanted Germany to win for Ozil but since he's been dropped now, they have far too many players that I don't like for some reason or the other. I hope Brazil obliterate their asses in the Ro16.

Apart from Argentina, I don't care much about anyone. No team winning would give me any pleasure. I do know that I don't want Spain and Portugal to win. I would be happy with one of Uruguay, Mexico, Belgium, England, or Senegal winning it. Would absolutely love the reaction of English press if England do win it. It would also be egg on the face of the so-called Pathetic Generation™.

I'll never understand supporting the big guns as a neutral, tbh.

France have all the makings of a World Cup winner. I'm saying this after the games. They have luck on their side and of course, some world-class players and a very good defense.

I wouldn't say France have "flopped." Argentina looked far more impressive than Germany until the QFs the World Cup in 2014. Spain were terrible in 2010 World Cup as far as gameplay was concerned.

You don't need to play well to win the World Cup. You just need luck on your side and the ability to defend. Spain also don't look bad and you just know that they have the ability to induce sleep on everyone on their way to a bore-fest of a 120 min final.

Belgium have looked the best so far out of the top-6 teams. Russia have looked the best out of the rest.

France look well equipped. Spain will lose to the likes of Brazil or France if it came down to it - even if Brazil haven't looked good themselves. Can they avoid them until the final? I doubt it.

Because I have German heritage and my gf is German. I'll support them all the way until they meet England, ideally in the final with England winning 5-1 and bringing Heskey on as an emergency sub.

Agree on the first part but for me they've still flopped, they should've been pre-tournament favourites with that squad but they've been awful, worse than Brazil.

Disagree on the second part, I think Spain are the most balanced squad even if they don't stand out as much as in 2010 (No Xavi, young Cesc, Villa). People are still underrating them imo, they know their game plan inside out...better than any other team and have the quality at any second to bang a goal. I have Spain as favourites but I did also have them winning their group but I expect Ronaldo to drag Portugal to the top in game 3 now, still concerns over the manager sacking as well.

Didn't know you supported Germany. :P

But as I said, as long as it's your home/first team (or in your case, second team), then all is fine. Just don't understand neutral speaking broken Spanish all of a sudden after Spain won the Euros/WC. Or, German fans screaming 'Alemania, Alemania' thinking it's German for Germany.

Okay, not that dumb. But whatever. :hiding:

Oh I do think Spain is the most balanced side even if it's not the most dynamic, which is why I said do not underestimate the ability of Spain to cure insomnia en route to a boring 120-min final.

Most pundits outside England did predict Spain to win the World Cup tbh.

Still not a single game played without goals. These are shaping up to be one of the best group stages of all time.
