Reed, classie and hjoberg are all natural central midfielders. We dont have a single one on the pitch

Ox will do a job there. We have a decent attack though which is the most important thing. Should be able to get a few against Southampton's defence.

Glad they've put a weak team out aswell otherwise we I wouldn't of fancied our chances at all.

Worst team we have put all season imo. Zero balance in that team

Just going off our first team, I would say we are probably going out today. But, it seems like Soton decided to rotate as much as we did so we have a chance. Imo, if we want to win we need to put in a lot of crosses and have players like Welbeck and Mustafi take advantage of their height/strength in the air. We also need to watch out for counters which Bellerin and Gibbs should be able to help stop. Last point: Soton look like a prideful team so we absolutely must match their fight and try and win every second ball
Ramsdale
(Turner/Hein)
White Saliba Gabriel Zinchenko
(Tomiyasu/Niles) (Timber/Holding) (Trusty/Kiwior) (Tierney/Tavares)
Odegaard(c) —- Rice
(Xhaka/Lokonga) —- (Partey/Elneny)
Havertz
(Jorginho/Vieira)
Saka Jesus Martinelli
(Pepe/Nelson) (Nketiah/Balogun) (Trossard/ESR)

Does that midfield have any fight in them?

Tbh with only Coq and Ramsey available for the few next games, it's understandable that we don't want to risk them getting injured or suspended

I wish we signed Hojbjerg instead of Xhaka.

Love that guy, a true Bayern prodigy.

Xhaka, Elneny and Cazorla are out. It's not like we have plenty of options.

Not really; maybe Niles has a bit but this is why I'm worried. Our only saving grace is that Soton themselves decided not to take this seriously as well

Trying to see things positive: Maybe Maitland-Niles emerges today as a realistic CM option

Imo, the midweek game was the time to rest players. Play a strong or near strong team today and then drop a few players midweek.
