my point is that to credit the cross instead of the header is kooky

Be thankful.

Our wingers and left/right backs are such shitty crossers that any cross we get from elsewhere is a blessing. Most of us here had been screaming for a good cross all game.

Credit to Ozil for a good cross. More credit to Giroud for a terrific finish.

Thoughts on the game now that we've all calmed down and stuff

Our shooting was wank
Giroud showed why he should get time on the pitch
Giroud showed why he shouldn't be starting striker
Wenger made some good changes
Wenger made changes at the same time as he usually does and maybe they were good because he didn't have the choice of making wrong ones?

So no real conclusions can be drawn from this. Giroud is quality, we knew that, is he quality enough? Not so sure, he didn't create any real chances for himself besides the header which you'd expect a good striker to make.

Similarly, Wenger made great changes but again, with the injuries and him needing to make attacking ones, could he really get it wrong? Doubt it.

Best part? We beat Pulis ball with a cross in the box in the last few minutes and scored with a peach header.

you must be joking, we're playing west brom and its taken 92mins for him to score!! Stuff of champions, scraping a win against such elite opposition. So excited ...........

The goal was in the 86 th min
It took Leicester 89 mins to score against Norwich last season and they didn't score past Bournemouth at all

His scoring rate and chance conversion is one of the best in the league this season especially commendable as he has been a fringe option this season

Stats alone do not prove a point. He is terrible, ok, removing emotion he simply is not Arsenal quality, he is a mid table standard striker at best. His touch is hit n miss, he can't hold up the ball, his interplay is shite. any half decent striker would score loads of goals for Arsenal, doesn't make them good though. Its all well and good scoring against poor teams but he rarely ever manages to do anything against decent teams. Play normally breaks down when the ball goes to Giroud.

He scored against Man U and PSG in November alone.

First time in 4 or so years he has managed a feat like that. The sun shines on a dog's arse some days, doesn't make Giroud good. I have watched him too many times to be impressed by his odd dazzling goal, 10% of brilliance does not and cannot outweigh 90% of absolute waste of space-ness.

Giro ud has scored 3 against bayern Munich as well as another goal v Man Utd
