Sounds like it was a good day

yeah. But the real plus was xhaka and el nenny....absolutely bossed the match together. I honestly dont think coquelin and cazorla can do what they did tonight. Very intelligent players

The new Gilberto and Vieira?

Well obviously not quite but I'd like to have a new dominant midfield duo at AFC, not had that in a while.

I still feel el nenny has more to his game. He is still being a bit safe. He did show signs tonight about taking more responsibility though

Thanks for the link. Looks like the keeper should have done better for Lucas' second but I like how he anticipated the pass earlier on and kept the pressure on the defender even though he didn't get to the ball first. Also liked that it was his pass that led to the penalty and the 4th goal

They look like they could form a good pair and I hope. their partnership continues to develop. From what I've seen so far I think they'll struggle against the top sides

Thanks so much. I've got a 3 month old at home and missed most of the second half.

The Perez second goal...

The defender beat him to the ball but made a mess of it. In a league game that ball is cleared or knocked out for a throw. However, Lucas did a hell of a job fighting off the 2 defenders and keeping his cool as the keeper came out to finish it off.

I don't think there's any way in hell Giroud makes that play.

Perez knocked him off balance and the defender overshot the ball, allowing Perez in. giroud does that sort of thing all the time when defenders are near him, but ultimately wouldn't have the pace to even put the pressure on in that situation.

You're right. I didn't notice Perez bumping the defender when I saw it live.

Giroud could of made that play ............. if the play was being made in a phone box.

No way Giroud latches onto that through ball and has the pace to beat the defender and go round the keeper, it would of been a failed play to begin with.

I think it was a lovely touch that we chanted St Nicklas of Bendtner's name and he applauded us at the end.

Akpom: Used his power and pace to drive at people. Also his decision making was very good which is not something I'm used to.
Maitland-Niles: Seemed solid at RB, also delivered a couple of very good balls into the box.
Xhaka and Elneny - Seemed a good midfield on the same wave length.

Having said all this it was only vs Nottingham Forest.

Jeff also with some nice flashes of quality.
Perez had a good assist and through ball for foul on Akpom causing the penalty.
