I fail to see how that invalidates my point. Aguero, with his skill and pace, will on most occasions get the better of Mertesacker.
If your claim would be correct why didn't they humilate us regulary with Mertesacker on the pitch vs Agüero besides the 6:3 all of these results look close (if you scroll down on my link)
Because in order for his point to work, Mertesacker would have to be an actual lamppost, which he definately isn't. Hes shut out or limited many top players, some of which have electric pace. It's more about how we play as a team than the individual battle imo.
If we stay tight and don't allow ourselves to become disorganised by keeping our shape, City will struggle again like they did last time.
If they do the same we could well be in for a bore draw.
