Poor performance, but 3 points is a decent return from two games against Bayern. Our CL challenge died (if it has died) in the defeats to Zagreb and Olympiacos, not at Bayern.

It is clear though that we are nowhere near the level of Europe's elite. We can beat them "on our day", but the chances of us getting through multiple knock out stages against top opposition are negligible. So failure to qualify from the group, while embarrassing, will ultimately make no difference to our CL "chances".

The only way this squad is winning CL is by an enormous fluke.

Let's go for the EPL.

No team plans for three right wingers getting injured, no team plans for a RB and CB getting injured for the same game. Our backups on paper are pretty good for these positions, to blame this on the summer is ridiculous since we were light in two areas and those two were good today

Classic wengerite small time thinking.

You never know in football but an investigation should be conducted if Olympiacos manages to come away with something from the Allianz :)

I don't blame the players as they were not able to play an open game with this Bayern team. It's wenger's fault to play 4231 and dream to get 3 points. We have had used all of luck to get a 2:0 win last week. It would not happen again. One point is all we should have been longing for. If you make up your your mind to get just one point and nothing more, you would not play 4231 with sanchez on left and Giroud up front. Park the bus since the 1st second with 8-1-1 with Ozil and Sanchez. If Bayern just got 1 point from this game then they have no choice but beat Olympiakos to ensure a spot in last 16. And our way to advance would be much much easier. This one point will change everything that will happen in the last 2 games.

I am not saying parking a bus with 8-1-1 would ensure a point but at least there was a chance. Playing 4231 with current squad is a suicide.

he's a player who is streaky.
when he gets fouled and doesn't get calls- i felt alot of what konan got all game, Alexis did not- he goes off the boil.

Yes, he hasn't been "on" last few games. he had a subpar game. shrug. whatcha gonna do?

To me it seems like Sanchez starts to get impatient when he goes a few games without scoring - which is where your assessment of him being "streaky" ties in.

When he scores, he seems to score consistently for a few matches and his play flows better, but when he goes on a goal drought he looks frustrated and tries to force things which only works against him.

He is very much a rhythm player.
