You are.
Maybe subtly, but you have been excusing the result fot the whole day - at least from what I've seen.

If Brighton & Hove Albion were to pull a 42 game unbeaten streak from now and we were to play them - would you expect us to win the game COMFORTABLY?

I sure as hell would.

You do not have to outright say that the result means nothing in order to be excusing the result.

Them being terrible 4 years ago is relevant; it's the last proper barometer of their quality that we have. The last time they played at the top level they were destroyed, even though they were by far the best in their own country. They're now even better than the rest of their country, but they're coming back into the top level where they should rightfully be outplayed.

Their results in 2011/12 and the last 16 years represents the quality of their club, as do our results over the last 16 years.

If we were Zagreb coming into this game, and Arsenal were on a 5 game losing streak, and then we lost to Arsenal it would not be seen as a big deal since Arsenal should be beating us regardless of form: They are the bigger club.

arsenal have always got a game like this about them regardless of form
away to some russian side? home to monaco, you know its coming just round the corner, we are diabolical in the cl
we have only got a couple of world class players, just getting ozil and sanchez over 2 seasons is just nowhere near enough!
the big boys in europe and to a lesser degree here at home have more than us and until that changes we will be second raters both in the cl and in the prem

Peopleeeeeeeeeee, don't pretend like this is the first time we lol'ed in the CL. If it were, nobody would be pissed off. Shit happens.

But when that shit happens every season, it becomes to be known as a habit - a trend, not a one-off upset. Beating Arsenal in the CL is no longer considered an upset. Think about it.

Excellent in the 08/09 season when we went 20+ games in league undefeated. Only for cesc to return from injury and destroy us as only he can

21 games unbeaten including the 8 that fabregas played in( 4 at the beginning 4 at the end)
Cesc took the corner adebayor scored from at boro
Set up both adebayor goals home to man city
Set up silvestre and song at Wigan
Passed for arshavin 1st goal in the 4-4 at liverpool
Scored both in the 2-0 win v boro
That last 4 of those was the 4 he came back
He did miss the 4 0-0,s on the trot 3 of them at home
Denilson was ok that season but was never good enough in either heart and ability and was another player that wenger persisted too long with

One of the club's star men has tested positive for a banned substance following the Champions League win over Arsenal

Dinamo Zagreb have confirmed midfielder Arijan Ademi failed a doping test in the aftermath of the club's Champions League group stage victory over Arsenal.

The 24-year-old played the whole 90 minutes of the 2-1 win on September 16 but could now face a lengthy suspension as he awaits the result of a B sample.

A statement from the club read: "We are aware of the results of the doping control test after the Champions League first round match against Arsenal.

"Our player, Arijan Ademi, tested positive, and Uefa has opened proceedings against him.

"According to Uefa rules, Dinamo cannot comment on the case until the B sample is given.

"For years, our players have been regularly subjected to doping controls and nothing like this has ever happened, so we have to say that we are surprised by the result.

"Arijan Ademi was tested six times last year and each time the result was negative. Players have also been tested several times this season by Uefa and the Croatian Anti-Doping Agency and everyone was always negative."

The repercussions of the player's violation are yet to be made official by Uefa, though the governing body's anti-doping regulations state that the player could face a minimum of a two-year suspension, while the club are likely to avoid punishment unless more than one player is found guilty of substance abuse.

They will get away with it, because for the team to be punished, 2 players need to be found guilty.

Not making any excuses for us, but it would at least some explanation about why our quality didn't shine through, even if we were playing badly.

Disgusting ownership and management have turned them into a despicable club, and even their own fans are disillusioned despite their on-field success.

If that was their time on drugs, then how crap are they without them? This is no excuse for our loss though, we were crap and should have beaten that team, even if they were all on drugs. They were still not good enough to beat us, but we let them beat us

Anyway, how typically Arsenal would it be for us to get through when we look down and out, in a completely weird way? :D
