not as long as Wenger is in charge.

If he could play flamini as well he would.

We're a joke on the pitch just now.

I think (especially with Gibbs and Bellerin) it is important to use the full backs for width when our best players want to play centrally. If we play with two wingers rather than two wide attacking midfielders we will have to axe one of Ramsey/Ozil/Cazorla, 3 of our best players.

That is the point, someone has to be dropped.

We cannot extract the best from these players by cramming them all in and playing some out of position, e.g., Ramsey on the wing.

Midfielders in midfield, wingers on the wing. It's hardly a revolutionary concept.

We haven't played a formation with wingers in a few games now.

I quite like the formation, last night was one to forget, although we did create a bunch of chances, maybe a natural finisher might have won us the game. Look at the invincibles, were Pires and Ljungberg your average wingers? Ljungberg reminds me more of Ramsey than Walcott. Wenger should concentrate on the ST, GK and DM, we don't need wingers, modern full backs are designed to bomb forward and now we have an established Coquelin, he is able to fill in when necessary.

I really hope last night doesn't alter Wenger's mind too much, as I already said, with a goalscorer in the team we could have easily won the game 2/3/4-0. New personnel is needed more than a change in formation.

Pires and Ljungberg were both wingers, yes. Can you imagine Wenger playing Vieira or Gilberto on the wings?

And out of our past 6 or so games - Chelsea, Swansea, United and now Sunderland - played without a winger and dropped points in all.

It is not a viable option (or shouldn't be, at least) going foward but I have no doubt Wenger will continue to employ this "tactic" and sabotage our title chances in pursuit of his midfield utopia.

Pires was a wide midfielder but he still could play like a winger. None of the attacking mids we play out wide can do that

Ramsey and Sanchez are not Vieira and Gilberto lol.

Diaby and Coquelin are more Vieira and Gilberto than any other player. And Wenger has definitely never played them on the wings.

We haven't played with wingers all season why are you bringing up the last 6 games?? Ox and Theo have started 20 league games between them so for 17 of them we have played without a winger?

I look forward to this "sabotage" :P

That's an easy decision

Very easy. Ramsey/Ozil are the basis of our good play

another point - we are not barca
another point - barca had wingers in pedro, tello, sanchez (to same extent we have him), even villa.
another point - barca have messi to make the difference

i hate when people compare us to barca, we are an absolutely horrendous version of what they were back in 2008/9/10. discrediting them to compare our play to that, ours is slow and languid their's was sharp and incisive.

and yet, when THEIR time came, watching them was a whole helluva lot like watching yesterday's match... teams parking it and them tapping it around the edge of the area trying to play give and go into a box with 8 defenders in it... no bloody room...
alot of short players make just curling into "the mixer" a non option.

this year they FINALLY became more direct.

Ramsey/Ozil combine far better with the rest of the team than Cazorla. Our play is also faster and has more purpose without random pirouettes in our own half. Santi has no drive despite his technique. Man Utd game shows the difference clearly between the two in CM

I think you'll find Welbeck has played many games for us. This Ramsey out wide bullshit has only been recent, started a short while before the Liverpool match last month.
