I think (especially with Gibbs and Bellerin) it is important to use the full backs for width when our best players want to play centrally. If we play with two wingers rather than two wide attacking midfielders we will have to axe one of Ramsey/Ozil/Cazorla, 3 of our best players.
That is the point, someone has to be dropped.
We cannot extract the best from these players by cramming them all in and playing some out of position, e.g., Ramsey on the wing.
Midfielders in midfield, wingers on the wing. It's hardly a revolutionary concept.
We haven't played a formation with wingers in a few games now.
I quite like the formation, last night was one to forget, although we did create a bunch of chances, maybe a natural finisher might have won us the game. Look at the invincibles, were Pires and Ljungberg your average wingers? Ljungberg reminds me more of Ramsey than Walcott. Wenger should concentrate on the ST, GK and DM, we don't need wingers, modern full backs are designed to bomb forward and now we have an established Coquelin, he is able to fill in when necessary.
I really hope last night doesn't alter Wenger's mind too much, as I already said, with a goalscorer in the team we could have easily won the game 2/3/4-0. New personnel is needed more than a change in formation.
