Still trying to figure out whether the cu*t really is that amazing or if the standard of the PL has declined that drastically because at 34 years old he is still easily the best defender in the league... bit of both maybe.

I do think Mourinho's defensive system accentuates his ability, though. Tailor made for him.

He's good for this era. But not amazing. We are just shit. He's not the best defender. Maureen just gets the best out of him & his defence. He couldn't cut it under avb ,benitez or di matteo set ups. Maureen just sets him up well. Terry is perfect for maureens sit deep defense. And well teams play into chavs hands with slow build up intricate play ,lack od devastating wing forwards and so forth.

Why you think red nose ferguson would bang on about speed and crossing its the only way to disrupt people sitting deep with the drop balls and pinning in. Maureen sets up like a low-midtable team. And no the best teams were never this defensive.

20% He's always been a world class defender.

80% the Premier League has dropped off in quality! We haven't seen anybody whatsoever come in the last 10 years who anywhere near as good as Terry.

One big factor about Terry is the bastard was brought from the academy like Adams with us and has played at just one club all his life, he loves, lives and breathes Cheslea, which is what makes him 100% irreplaceable when he drops off, it's not just there are very few if any good defenders out there, but you can't buy that type of commitment he shows. Thats what helps, you got a guy who eat's lives and sleeps the club, it's everything to him! Godin and Thiago Silva are the only better defenders in world football and neither will be half as committed like terry is.

When you surrounded by 5 other cbs, it's easier to look like a good cb. Not taking anything away from yesterday's performance, he dealt with giroud on nearly every occasion.

Same can be said for merts over drogba and co. Merts was full beast mode yesterday too but no one has anything to say about that.

Pretty typical GW response to dropping points tbf.

Good post, Thing is this wingers tactics requires widemen who can cross, essentially players proficient in their passing which we don't see as much as we should, these days wingers are all 'inverted and look to cut inside and shoot as a priority rather than create. The best chance we had right at the end of the match was when we got down the flanks.

Still not sure why Terry is getting singled out for so much adulation, he was just another blue shirt out of maybe 8+ they constantly had in their box.

Does it really cost 500m to park a bus?

They could have won the league without a bus, many teams seem to manage it.

They just have something against football.

I understand when teams are underfunded and have no other choice than to play negative footballs as they are unable to afford talented footballers who could execute, but for a Chelsea, its a damn shame.

That's the Mourinho way, and owners love it and will continue to hire him if he keeps winning! They don't care if it's pretty, as long as its effective and obviously it is.

Not arguing the negative tactics efficiency, parking the buss certainly works.

Id just sooner support Leicester, they are not very good but they try.

Chelsea played some good football this season. They're just not naive like us who try and play pretty against the best teams all the time even though it doesn't really pay off.

Our games against City & United were just as boring as Chelsea were yesterday

Chelsea played good football 1st half of the season. They played cesc deep with matic, they got fatigued playing the same players had a few losses and then mourinho went defensive to preserve the lead they had built.

If we had of been c!oser to them and every game they felt they must win they would have had to take more risks.

Just watched the first half. We were good, solid in defense mostly, quite good going forward at times. Ramsey was really good, involved in everything and some beautiful touches. Coquelin solid as always, Bellerin again proving himself against the best team and player in the league, Ozil quite good too, except some moments where he lost the ball too easily. Sanchez had some moments but is holding on to the ball a bit too much, and not everything's working.
