Aye, Giroud has definitely given us a a boost. Brings another dimension to our play.

Could it be he's upping his play now that he has genuine competition in Welbeck? He was never going to be pushed when Bendtner and Sanogo were his only competition.

Whatever the reason, I'm very pleased to see it as I've often been vocal about his shortcomings. An inspired Giroud could be vital over the hectic Christmas period.

He's doing exactly the same as before, it's just he's provided the element we've lacked when he's not been on. It's more of a flaw of Welbeck than Giroud actually improving tbh.

His movement for the United goal and the chance vs Saints is exactly the type of stuff he did before, that pulling off the defender to the back post is kinda his thing. Nothing new, I think people are just noticing what he actually does due to Welbeck not doing it very well. They are two very different strikers, offer different things and can both provide useful skills.

Neither are amazing but it's good that we have the option like yesterday to finally change the game, sometimes it will be Welbeck coming on to make the difference.

Bit unfair to suggest they can't be bothered. Sometimes it happens, in fact the player ratings thread has generally been exceptionally quick going up this season.

Massa was late with 1 match thread, Rev didn't make me POTM til the 10th ( ;) ) and now this ratings, aside from that there's been no issues. People are busy outside of the forum.

i know they do a great job no ones saying they don't and without them there wouldn't be a goonersworld and cripps would have to go somewhere else to post 3000 comments a day:)
but the match day comments and general postings seem to be down as a whole right accross the spectrum,
i'm sure things will ignite again when the team finally does?

Only 30 something a day now. Considering it used to be 50+ during the summer, i can't deny that the shitness of the club affects postings on here.

Id postulate the opposite, the forums always more active after a loss, when winning it quietens down significantly.

I thought the goalkeeper, defence and Flamini all were pretty solid but gong forward we lacked a bit of spark until the very end. Southampton have a great defence this season though so I'm not surprised. I'm just glad to win again and three clean sheets on the spin is a good indicator that we're returning to form.
