Adding Fonts for Photoshop.

Postby She_Gunner_Wales » Sun Mar 08, 2009 12:30 am

For those of you who are beginners at photoshop, this is a very simple task.

Download your font http://www.dafonts.com is a very good source for free fonts (or google free fonts) as some places you have to pay. ;)

Download to your desktop.
Open up your WINDOWS file > Fonts folder > Drag your downloaded font into the Fonts Folder.

The fonts you have downloaded will look like either of these two icons, these are what you need to drag into your fonts windows file:

Photshop usually recognises the new fonts straight away but sometimes you may have to close|reopen the programme before you can use them, they will then appear in your list of fonts in the drop down menu, as shown below:

Would this be the same for GIMP or do you have to put the fonts in the fonts folder in the GIMP plugin? (And for brushes too?)

Once you have installed into your fonts folder they should work with any programme/application. Word/office/photoshop/gimp ect. :)

Just drag them into the fonts folder using the administrator account then?

After I download from dafonts.com the fonts come in a folder. I click on the folder and select the TrueType fonts, and drag them into the fonts folder.

Once I do that there's an administrator thing in which I click yes, however after that fonts don't appear even though I've copied them there.

What should I do?

You have winrar yeah?

Use winrar to extract the files to your desktop then you can just right click on the font file and click on install.
