New predictions rule poll

Postby Zenith » Tue Nov 19, 2013 5:01 pm

Example:

Arsenal wins 0-5 at the Lane, first player to score was Giroud.

Member X predicts:
Tottenham 0-0 Arsenal
First scorer: Giroud

Should he/she receive 1 point? Yes/No

*If the majority of the votes are in favor of the proposal, the rule will apply at the start of the next Premier League season.

Whats the current setup again?

1 point for score
1 point for first scorer

If its 2 points for 0-0, it'd be a very good guess as we hardly ever draw 0-0 so i say it would deserve 2 points.

It just doesnt seem right that you can still guess 0-0 Giroud. Its like hedging bets. Its like backing both horses in a 2 horse race and claiming the win.

Still, would it matter? Youve got an equal chance of getting the scorer wrong or the score wrong and ending up with 1 point or none.

f**k it, I voted keep it how it is. Its almost like you are penalising yourself if you go 0-0 first scorer, because you know you will only ever get 1 point instead of going for gold. Why do that?!

I need to stop talking to myself.

You sure about that Massa? Has the scoring changed recently? I'm sure it used to be more points for getting the scorer (which is dumb!) and less for the scoreline.

But yea, agree that you should get points even if you've predicted a goalless draw.

Scoring has been the same since it started. You're just stupid ;) viewtopic.php?f=15&t=25417

Actually I think it was this way I had a problem with.

Can't decide what's the best scoring. There's about 10 (or so) regular scorelines, but there are 20 players that could potentially score, more including subs. So it's harder to pick the scorer, therefore more points should be awarded. But then you get players that are in form, or players like Suarez who always score... so it's harder to pick the score.

:dizzy: can't decide.

... although it's not even up for debate!

Why is this even an issue? Shouldn't everyone have to right to predict the first scorer? If a member only posts the name of the first scorer and not the score do they still get a point if he/she guesses correctly? Maybe that's a better question?

You don't get points for predicting the right team to win anyway, only the correct score so I think it should be allowed.

4 points for 0-0 draw and no rights to predict goal scorer would be better imo.

I agree, to me it's like cheating in a way, and just doing it to cover your own ass. You think it's going to be 0-0, but just in case it isn't then I'll pick a first scorer. Just silly in my eyes.

Also, there seems to be more possibilities of scorelines than first scorers, but I didn't do the math.
