Statistically.

Flamini hassles the oppo and closes them down a hell of a lot quicker which means they are more likely to lose possession. Stats never paint the whole picture, defensively Flamini is better and he still has the legs for it. Arteta doesn't for the role we try to employ him in.

At least Flamini has legs and wouldn't have been overran like Arteta was against Liverpool, Chelsea, and Everton.

He can't cope with the intensity of top level games.

Agreed.

People tend to forget you need legs to play football especially in the demanding holding role. Arteta looks tidy against teams which sit deep and defend but against oppositions which press hard, play at a high tempo and attack in numbers Arteta comes out as a liability and this has been proven time and again this season. He has an intelligent footballing brain but his legs have stopped being in sync with his brain for a long time now. Flamini runs around like terrier. He is always a nuisance around opposition players chasing them constantly. He has the engine to last for 90 minutes while Arteta clearly struggles to cope when the tempo hots up.

Last difficult game, if the lads show up like they have done the last two games we should do it.

Hopefully Podolski can keep getting chances because if it turns into a tough game his multiple goals per game ratio would be the deciding factor if he gets the chances, one goal is not going to get the job done if Newcastle score.

If we win this 4th place "should be" a lock, the other games are very winnable.

Newcastle have been dire off late. If we start the game briskly this could be over in no time. I hope the lads are up for this.

Have people forgot Flamini has been horrible in the big games too or are they choosing to ignore it?
Arteta is just as good as Flamini defensively but Arteta is much better than Flamini at everything else for me. Flamini is the worst passer in our side for me.

well he didn't get to start the games vs Chelsea or Liverpool so not quite sure how you can come to that conclusion.

He came on at HT against Chelsea iirc and was poor. From memory he was horrible at the Etihad, was the reason City scored at he emirates too and horrible against Everton a couple of weeks ago.

half time when we're already 3-0 down and 10 men? what's he meant to do then..bit unfair. Can't remember as far back as the city game, can't even remember his performance the Everton game right now tbh! He's not brill but would definitely have him over Arteta in a big game next to Ramsey. They're about the same overall imo, Flamini better defensively..Arteta better offensively. Flamini seems to actually organise shit so even if he's not playing brill he's making others do their job too.

This is our easiest game in the run in. Newcastle have been awful for some time now whilst West Brom and Norwich will be fighting for their lives when we play them.

Both Arteta and Flamini aren't good enough. That's the bottom-line.

I think Norwich away on the last day is our toughest game remaining. This should be winnable considering how bad Newcastle have been lately.

I'm still associating Newcastle with the players and form they had in previous seasons but if they have been that dire lately (not really watched them recently) then all the better.
