No, it doesn't. His reputation doesn't mean anything.

He's German and we played a German side. Big whoop. Doesn't mean he should have played.

Your point would be valid IF the alternatives were much better than him.

And they're not.

You're still not explaining why him being German and having loads of caps meant that starting him was 'no brainer'.

Gilberto had half a bad season. Wenger put all his chips on Flamini versus Gilberto, a world cup winning, loyal, respected club vice captain.

Flamini f***ked off when he wasn't offered enough money the next season.

Gilberto was the better player anyway imho

We didn't know Flamini would f**k off before we gave him games.

And yeah Gilberto did have half a bad season, whereas Flamini had the best season any DM of ours in the past 8 years. No way was Gilberto better

Very childish indeed. Wenger usually is a sore loser when losing in the CL but I think it's down to him being so desperate to win it.

I never understood when people say wenger has respect. Over the years if there is one thing I always felt is that wenger lacks respect. He doesnt lack it in the same way Mourinho does who is in your face, but with wenger its alot more sneaky and underhand. It bothers me that he never ever holds his hand up and say we lost to a better team. There's always excuses

If its 50/50 between a german international with extensive Bundesliga experience, and another player, against German oppo, you pick the Kraut.

He would have been a better attacking option anyway, regardless of nationally.

Wenger would also have known that Poldi not featuring in that match would probably be seen as a massive 'up yours' by the player. And he benched him anyway.

Terrible decision. Two places in that team Poldi could have had, and he didn't feature at all.

On the gilberto thing, the biggest up yours to Berti and Kolo was giving Billy the captaincy. That is the worst decision Wenger ever made imo.

Why are people of this opinion. When's he ever shown he's desperate to win it. He seems fine just qualifying for it and accepting the defeat vs top team every season
