Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool | The FA Cup 16/02/14

Cazorla did touch the ball for his penalty call actually - he scuffed it but got the ball none the less. Skrtel got nothing but Santi's foot (with his studs), anywhere else on the pitch that's clearly a foul, there's no way to argue against it being a penalty.

Webb took a long time to make that penalty call (which wasn't a pen). But still, I knew we wouldn't lose. Good atmosphere towards the end from Arsenal fans, we managed to get the upper tier singing (which I was in).

Interesting to see that the logic of the scousers is truly lacking because when you're 2-1 down, you should just give the ball back quickly. But instead of that, they just stole it and held up the game. which we responded with "same old scousers, always stealing"

Cazorla's wasn't a penalty. If he had connected, Skrtel would have blocked the shot. The lack of connection led to the boot on the shin. Not a penalty, anyway.

Santi hits the ball, Skrtel doesn't. Yawn.

This.

Even still, since when has kicking someone with studs up at chest height, having got no where hear the ball been considered not a foul?

Webb got it wrong, Rodgers is butt hurt even though he got away with two huge incidents.

Has anyone got a picture of sangogo karate kicking that Liverpool player towards the end of the first half?

Flamteta worked because they could soak the pressure and have direct, countering wingers in the form of Ox/Poldi as counter-attacking outlets.

With Jack/Santi/Rosicky in the wing it forces us to play a combination style of play and combining that with Flamteta doesn't work as without an attacking CM we lose a combination option

Good observation. We certainly looked better with more direct options and Arteta and Flamini weren't really needed in the attack as we were breaking with such pace that Liverpool didn't have plenty of players behind the ball.

Yeah shame Arteta is suspended as I think it would work vs Bayern too

Not a fan of Arteta. Offers us nothing defensively or offensively. Blessing in disguise he's out for Bayern

I don't blame Webb for not giving the Santi penalty, in real time it was probably hard to see, we've got the luxury of replays. The Suarez and Gerrard incidents were straight up bottling it though.

He tackles and intercepts more than Flamini so to say he offers nothing is inaccurate.

Flamini will put in a shift but we need whoever partners him to do a lot of running as well. Wilshere and Rosicky both didn't feature against Liverpool so I expect to see one of them start in the middle and I think we really need to utilize Oxlade-Chamberlain's pace and directness on the wings and not through the middle.
