We really needed the Podolski/Walcott option today.

When Giroud goes missing in games like this we REALLY need them.

he worked the channels all night and scored
that may have gone missing on your telly

......... so your saying we "don't" need Walcott or Podolski then??

Funny I thought we needed goals last night, if Giroud can't score a brace who else are we going to turn to?

i said nothing of the sort
i value all our squad highly and would always like as many options as possible

Check what Dortmund fans did to the seats at Emirates last night? Not such "classy" fans any more, eh?

I still don't believe they were all nutters.

So that's where the screw that hit my friend came from. Bunch of thugs and vandals, and what's worse I warned the stewards to watch the away fans. I thought they were just standing on the barriers but if they were doing this. By the steward's inaction, they have just cost Arsenal money in replacing the seats.

not saying it makes it ok but dortmund will be billed for it like spurs were when there fans smashed up a toilet

Why would we lower ourselves to their level? If we were to do that we'd actually be worse than them, it would not only make our fanbase look like knobheads but it would also make us look like massive hypocrites. We should retaliate by beating them on their own ground, not by ripping out their seats. Mind you it's still a small minority, 95% of their fans are proper football fans and would not approve this. Half a dozen of twerps don't represent an entire fan base.

Dortmund fans are as passionate as they come, the majority would probably feel ashamed of what the small bunch of plonkers did.

TBH, I am more disappointed about the way we conceded the first goal than the second.

Ramsay got caught in possession on our 18 yard box - this is more unforgiveable in my book than Sagna (or Ozil, or Rocky) failing to track back on a break.

Basic Steve Bould defending manual - get rid of the fkn thing - Ramsay didn't and we paid a huge price.

That said, I still thought we did well and it shows our measure of improvement over last season. A draw in Dortmund is not beyond Arsenal, if they cut out the stupid defensive errors!

Sorry starman but I'm with Grouchgooner here, regardless of stats you might quote: the guy's performances overall (ie. not just cherry-picked games) are just not good enough.

yes and that was ozil who played him in for that 38th minute goal .
he scored in the 43rd minute when they met later in the knockout stages as well
played 90 mins in both those games as he did on the other 2 occasions they have met
360 mins 2 goals
bendtner has had 8 mins
bit strong to slate an arsenal player for that

Just wanted to mention that Ronaldo already scored against Dortmund. :hiding: ;)
I have no problems atm that Bendter get some playtime here, we pay for him and need an replacement option for Giroud and from my point of view he is the only useful option atm cause of our injuries so let him play and see what he can do.

i think we can win in dortmund, did anyone listen to the sky panel and especially glenn hoddlea review of the game? glenn hoddle said 'dortmund were the better team and dominated for long spells' i chucked my remote at the tv, what a t**t he clearly didnt watch the game, if we had got to 2-1 we would have won easily, also ive heard alot of people slating sagna for thier winning goal i think thats unfair, ozil shud have tracked back when we were attacking, he will get that drilled into him. Overall we were unlucky and deserved at least a point

I agree with your point about Sagna and Özil but from my point of view they were the better team.

I don't want to write a book here so I will only analyse the first half from my point of view ;)
Klopp had a really good plan against Arsenal. If you watched how awesome they defended in the center and take out our offensive, with their wide players they at least doubled our ball carrier and force him to play the ball back to our defenders and after that they rushed into pressing unlike us (before the 30min mark). Dortmund overload the flanks really good but didn't play a good final ball, if they would have played more accurate and had rotated better in the final third they could have scored "easily" also Reus wasted a good counter with a try from roughly 30m distance. I have to mention that our defense players don't get pulled out of position, really good performance at the first half. Anyways after Gibbs and Sagna started to play higher and Arteta dropped deeper we came into play (around 30min mark) but sadly we suck at crossing with the current lineup, we also started "high pitch pressing" at this time.
We had two chances in the first half, the goal which happened cause of the mistake from Subotic cause without his touch Weidenfeller would have caught the ball, I also have to mention here that Wilshere really good pulled Schmelzer out of position before the Sagna cross that was a really intelligent move from him sadly mostly the guys here on the forum simply didn't mention or notice some of these things (call me fanboy once again but Podolski regulary made some moves (mostly for Gibbs) like that and never gets any credits for that too). The second chance was the shot from Rosicky after a mistake from Schmelzer.

Klopp outcoached Wenger at that day.
Just my 2 cents.

Özils defense work is poor/not existing since he starts to become a professional football player, I already mentioned that he will kill our balance against top level teams especially if he plays alongside some other Arsenal midfielders who never learnt to track back (but I don't want to name any names here cause the usual suspects will jump on me again) before we got him and earned some shitstorming here there is a reason that all his coaches so far criticised his defense "work".

Edit:
"right" replaced with "write"
