Mentioned this earlier but forgot who it was against. Kept thinking it was braga for some reason.

the partizan pen was the specific watershed moment when fabby turned a corner and started playing out of his skin.

Ill never forget that save, the look of shock on his face that he actually saved it, followed by a wave of released frustration and anxiety.

I was so happy for him in that moment. Actually one of those special arsenal moments that will stick with me.

Hasn't happened since 1998 when they beat us in the cup with 0-5.

1998? The double winning year, really?

it was the double winning year but not the double winning season
it was 98/99 and only ljungberg and bergkamp were bona fide 1st teamers

That's not what I said. My point was that I don't think it was worth risking our big name players tonight for the sake of the COC, and in the end Wenger was proved right. He went with the kids and we won. I want us to win it but if we did get knocked out there is a silver lining. Also - "that's why you have a squad" - aye, I f***ing know that, but in case you hadn't noticed half of our players are crocked at the moment.

we effectively have 3 squads (except in defence)

------------Szczesny
Sagna Merte. Koscielny Gibbs
--------Ramsey Wilshere
Walcott------Ozil--------Cazorla
--------------Giroud

-------------Vivianno
Jenks ?????????? Vermaelen Monreal
-----------Arteta Flamini
Oxlade------Rosicky--------Podolski
--------------Sanogo

--------------Fabianski
Bellerin Boateng Hayden Yennaris
-----------Zelalem Diaby
Gnabry------Eisfeld-------Miyachi
--------------Bendtner

Our third team just went away up north midweek and turned over a premiership side. Nothing to worry about I don't think....

Not exactly our third team when more than half of the players who started were in your first and second squads

Excellent win in the end. I wasn't too happy with the youngsters that started, I did think they would do a little better but Bendtner showed he has vision, he just needs to get match fit now and things should happen for him.

It was basically our second choice defence (bar Mertesacker) and our third choice midfield (bar Arteta). Either way, it was an impressive victory considering the personnel at our disposal.

Would be more pleased about the win if we didn't get such a tough draw
