Emirates Cup: Napoli, Galatasaray and Porto to feature in Arsenal tournament

Image

Napoli, Porto and Galatasaray will take part in the sixth Emirates Cup tournament at Arsenal this summer.

The pre-season competition, which did not take place last year because of the London Olympic Games, is scheduled for the weekend of August 3-4.

Arsenal will play Napoli on the Saturday and Galatasaray on the Sunday, while Porto take on the Turkish side on the Saturday and Serie A Napoli 24 hours later.

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis said: "We are delighted to be welcoming the Emirates Cup back to north London this summer after last year's break.

"We are welcoming three high-quality sides to this year's competition again and I'm sure we'll see some great football played over the two days.

"Emirates has been the proud sponsor of the tournament since the inaugural competition in 2007 and we are very pleased to be working closely with them again on the Emirates Cup 2013."

Good clubs involved in it this year, looking forward to it. A bit surprised to see Gala involved though!

I'm not happy that the club invited galatasaray and it confirms my suspicion that they are completely disconnected with the fanbase. I don't think that galatasaray are going to have forgotten Copenhagen and I suspect they might be a bit dodgy. I'm surprised the Met even allowed that. I'm not going to the last day as I usually do because of this as I can't think it would be safe, given the turk's tendency of carrying knives.

LOL they're hardly going to bring the ultras to the emirates f***ing cup. It's all fat men with no shirts on and mums with their kids that go the Emirates Cup. It's a nothing game and the majority of the Gala fans will be UK based Turks.

I agree with peoples comments re Galatasaray but I would point out that their fans will be mainly Turks from London. Thats precisely why theyve been invited.

Better than NYRB (Romantic invite for TH14 probably), PSG and Boca Juniors. I'm glad Napoli's coming as Cavani will get to play against his old club straight away. ;)
