2006 is the first one I remember vividly. Was quite an exciting one.

Can't fully remember 2006 and 2010 was poor. I've got a good feeling this years tournament will be good though.

2010 was dire. Unbelievably boring football and vuvuzelas, both make it the worst world cup ever.

2006 was great but 1998 was the best due to the sheer quality of teams then and everyone went for it.

2010 GOAT.

What a year that was!

-Let me know the next time we see a final with two teams that have never won it before
-Temporarily became Ghanaian until Suarez happened
-Twisted an ankle celebrating Tshabalala's opening goal
-Live games
-Vuvuzela's (Haters gonna...)
-The World complaining about the ball, Japan showing the World how to actually kick a football
-Beat France
-Winter World Cup
-Waka waka/ Wavin' Flag
-Lampard Goal --> Goal Line technology
-North Korea hiring fans
-Maicon impossible angle goal

Best was 1998. My first World Cup I watched. Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Croatia where outstanding and especially Netherlands! England, Denmark, Nigeria where good too.

Worst was 2010. I actually liked the Vuvuzuelas and South African venues, i didn't like the football, the tactics, big players once again failing to show up and the really poor quality compared to years before.

In objective terms speaking on all the world cups since 1930. Most seem to say either one of 1970, 1986 or 1998 being the best world cups.

Worst where 2010, 2002 (so many upsets and dodgy decisions), 1990 (boring) 1978 (corruption) and 1966 (The worlds best where kicked out of the tournament, literally)

1966 being shit is a view shared outside of England especially and the UK media by the way.

1994 was the best. Great attacking players (Romario, Bebeto, Stoichkov, Hagi, Klinsmann, Baggio, Brolin, Dahlin, Andersson, Bergkamp), some great matches (Romania v Argentina, Bulgaria v Germany, Holland v Brazil, Romania v Sweden, Argentina v Nigeria, Germany v South Korea), good surprise packages (Romania, Bulgaria, Sweden, Saudi Arabia), a really tight group of death (Italy, Mexico, Ireland, Norway all finished on the same points) and some great goals (Owairan v Belgium, Baggio v Bulgaria, Hagi v Argentina, Brolin v Romania, Stoichkov and Letchkov v Germany, Branco v Holland, Andersson v Brazil, Maradona v Greece, Wynalda v Switzerland), scandal (Maradona) and tragedy (Escobar). It was the best attended World Cup too, so the Yanks loved their 'soccerball', regardless of what the sceptics said. Shame about the final.

1990 was poor but it had a lot of memorable moments. 2002 was really mediocre and it didn't 'feel' like a World Cup. 2010 was also a poor World Cup, not helped by every team basically playing 4-5-1 and trying to nick a goal and then defend.
There's David O'Leary and big Willie Young, sending Rixy and Stapleton off on a run

1982, though it's remembered for Paolo Rossi banging em in for the Itie's, I was only 10 & never had, nor have since, seen football played like Brazil. Eder, Zico, Socrates, Falcao etc... An outrageously talented team... By a country mile the best ever football team I've seen AND they didn't win it.... Quick mention to the 86 world cup which imo is & remains the reason Maradona eclipses Messi all ends up.. He single handedly (yeah yeah) won the greatest prize in football for Argentina... Maradona took the piss out of the best players in the world... In a time when GBH on a football pitch rarely got you a ticking off. The guy was kicked f*ck out of all game, every game with no ref protection & 2 footed tackles above the knee was considered 'world class defending'
