UPDATE: South America vs Europe - P15 W9 D1 L5 (All Time - P62 W35 D9 L18)

And so the books are closed until the next South American World Cup. Congrats to Germany for breaking the stigma of Europeans being unable to win in South America!

Still unable to win in North America, though. 3 out of 3 for CONMEBOL on CONCACAF countries.

Ah I can't wait for 2026! The USA is going to be rocking! And unlike South Africa, Brazil, Russia, and Qatar, we already have the massive capacity world class stadiums built (mainly for the NFL but plenty can serve as football stadiums too as I'll show with pics), airports that can handle that kind of traffic, and enough hotels to accommodate everyone no matter the city.

I'd be expecting the final cities to be:
1. Rutherford (MetLife Stadium - capacity of 82,566) ---> New York City area
Image

2. Seattle (CenturyLink Field - capacity of 67,000)
Image

3. Los Angeles (Rose Bowl - capacity of 94,392)
Image

4. Arlington (AT&T Stadium - capacity of 85,000 but can be expanded to over 100,000) ---> Dallas area
Image

5. Landover (FedExField - capacity of 85,000) ---> Washington, DC area
Image

6. Chicago (Soldier Field - capacity of 63,500)
Image

7. Houston (NRG Stadium - capacity of 71,054)
Image

8. San Francisco (Levi's Stadium - capacity of 75,000)
Image

9. Foxborough (Gillette Stadium - capacity of 68,756) ---> Boston area
Image

10. Miami (SunLife Stadium - capacity of 74,918)
Image

11. Atlanta (stadium planned to be completed in 2017 - capacity of 75,000)
Image

12. Philadelphia (Lincoln Financial Field - capacity of 68,532)
Image

But I would expect a new stadium to be built in DC and LA between now and 2026 and SunLife Stadium in Miami to be renovated between now and then.

Also, I have a question that's been irking me. Why do many of the stadiums in Europe have roofs covering the seats whereas many stadiums in the US that aren't domed open air?

Did I miss something they didn't even start the bidding phase for that tournament ?
Cause of the continental rotation Europeans and Asians aren't allowed to make a bid but according to floating informations here we will most likely see bids from
Mexico
Canada
Morocco
Colombia (maybe together with Ecuador and Peru)
USA

btw: Russia has most of the needed capacity to host a World Cup (imo) but will of course spent money in the infrastructure and take the chance to rebuild the existing or build completely new stadiums like nearly every other host before.

Dunno exactly why we often have roofs and you don't but it's more comfortable for the fans (sun blocking, rain protection) and maybe better for the quality of the stadium in the long run (wear out) also if you have closeable roofs (like Amsterdam, Warsaw or Schalke) you can guarantee to bring the match off or any other event (f.e. in Germany some stadiums like the one in Köln are often used for concerts or other events)

Well, USA getting 2026 is all but done and FIFA only needs to announce it. It's not 100% confirmed but it's unanimous that USA will get it.

It should go to Europe tbh.

Americans had it just a few World Cups ago

Exactly.

So sad the game is more about money than football. Blatter is a massive crook.

They should just go all out and hold every world cup in the UAE until they run out of oil then relocate to the USA for good.

It's ridiculous England have only had it once and we have the best stadiums in the world. We could host it tomorrow as everything is ready.

Plus and this is most important, I'd have more chances to go to games. Going to a World Cup final is on my bucket list. And they won't be on at stupid times as it would be if it was held in the Americas.

Russia is in Europe and they're hosting 2018. Plus, the 8-year rule: The same continent cannot host a World Cup within 8 years.

2018 - Russia
2022 - Qatar
2026 - USA
2030 - Argentina and Uruguay (100 years celebration, rumored)
2034 - Zimbabwe (They're planning to bid) :P But yeah, Europe will get this.

Would be much nicer (imo) if Canada would get it 2026 cause they barely qualify for the WC and it would push football there, USA can still have it next time for North America but cause of the huge amount of money they (FIFA) could make in the USA they might get it if they throw there bid in.

Cripps wrote:It should go to Europe tbh.

Indeed they had it but there are hardly countries over there who can handle a WC and Mexico already had it twice.

btw:
1994 (North) America
1998 Europe
2002 Asia
2006 Europe
2010 Africa
2014 (South) America
2018 Europe
2022 Asia
2026 ???

Dunno exactly if they split it in North America and South America tbh.

No way in hell will they wait 16 years to get it back to Europe.

Whether people like it or not, Europe is the heart and soul of football. Been far too long for England to not have it. If they don't get it in 2026 and it goes to USA then 2030 for sure will be in Europe.

I mean the likes of Mexico have had it twice ffs and only 16 years apart as well. Ridiculous.
