I’ve read a lot of Stephen King books but not that one. My experience is that they a fantastic books right up to the finale, which is invariably disappointing.

Stephen King wrote 'It' right?

I read that there's a child orgy in that one?

I love King.

Whenever I haven't read for a while I'll pick up a King book and then get back to reading more consistently afterwards.

11/22/63 is his magnum opus.

The Green Mile is also up there.

He also hilariously shits on Trump via Twitter so he gets extra points in my book.

Throughout history authors have written about everything imaginable.

Lolita by Nabokov is about a padeo and it's considered one of the best novels of all time.

But it wasn't an orgy and served as a plot device.

The Shining is his magnum opus.

Currently, going through Gabriel Marquez' works. Can't believe I waited this long.

Libra by Don Delillo

A reimagining of the JFK assasination and the collusion that was involved.

Excellent so far but one you have to pay close attention to.

The Expanse

I'm on the third of the series, Abaddon's Gate. It's a relatively realistic sci-fi series where Earth has colonized the solar system. Really enjoying. Like the cover of my copy says it's 'As close as you'll get to a Hollywood Blockbuster in book form.'

There's also a TV series of the same name, but they reuined it.

Just picked up Stephen King's brand new novel 'The Institute '.

Was there to get 'Doctor Sleep' and by some fluke this had just been released today so I got both.

A New York Times review said it might be his scariest work yet.

That is exceptionally high praise but we'll see.

Read a blurb about The Institute. Sounds like The Maze Runner meets Fifteen Million Merits (Black Mirror S01E02) meets the X-Men.

Personally I can’t imagine Stephen King producing his best work at his stage in life. The mind slows and imagination dims to the extent that it’s more likely he’ll be relying on horror rather than tension to achieve the desired effect.

I have watched my favorite author from back in the 80’s and 90’s, Wilbur Smith, go from turning out epic stories, to more recently turning out absolute dirge!

Do any of you ever reread books?

Recently I went back and reread a couple of my favourite novels.
