Not to be too cheesy but just finished Fever Pitch, loved it. Stood sniggering on the subway to work. (Not to be too stereotypical as we have some big fans on here) but if any American asked me what I was laughing at it would be hard to explain all of Hornby little stories.

Anyway just started book called Bodega dreams. Wold highly recommend a small story called Concrete Fever though. And recently read the Alchemist by Coelho. Probably one of, if not the best book I've read.

Have you finished reading it? How's it?

I've wanted to read it for ages, but due to so many factors - just haven't gotten around.

Just finished Wrestling For My Life, Shawn Michaels 2nd book. Pretty boring especially all the christian stuff. Wrestling stuff was fine.

On to Chris Jerichos 3rd book and so far it's brilliant.

A thousand splendid suns & the kite runner are exceptional reads.. I'm on Birdsong at the minute...
Finally I completely went off Stephen King a few years ago yet cannot recommend highly enough... 11/22/63. A wonderful book.

Sympathy for the devil - Paul Trynka. Sad, but good read. True genius. He was no angel, but I've never liked mick and keith.

Guys, give me a list of 10 books to read before I die.

Going to be commuting more in the next few weeks and need some reading material.

Going on an amazon binge tonight.

I need 10 books that will make me want to stay on the train for the whole day and f**k off work.

Books that make you read until sunrise.

Books that make your neck ache because you can't put them down.

Your top 10.

Go.

these are the most important ones for me, the ones that every single human being should read, im going to give you very "boring" books, of academic content, but they are all in a way pretty groundbreaking:

Ethics - Spinoza:
Fundamental and very fun to read, this is a guy that keeps questioning himself to the point that you feel sorry/amazed by him.
Critique of Pure Reason - Kant
You never study philosophy if you haven't read my friend Emmanuel
Being and Time - Martin Heidegger
A very dark and twisted book the moment you start to understand it you realize that you didn't understand anything about it. It has the "Dasein" concept in it. Probably the book that i go back the most.
God and the State - Mikhail Bakunin
Bakunin is fun, because he express every single Grievance that humans had since the beginning of time in such a simplistic yet beautiful way.
Dialectic of Enlightenment - Horkheimer & Adorno
This guys run away from frankfurt when the second world war started, Benjamin went to be an crazy outsider in Europe, they choose a happy/comfortable academic position in the USA. This book its humans trying to explain rational cruelty, its one of the first realizations that this God of enlightenment is like any other God.
Glas - Derrida
One of the most weirdest books i have read in my entire life, creepy. If you know Derrida you probably would not choose this cryptic book, but i just found it the most personal one.
Discipline and Punish: The Birth of the Prison - Michel Foucault
XX century bible.
Capitalism and Schizophrenia - Deleuze & Guattari
They came to Kick laccan and Sartre in the ass, they neddle it.
Insult and the Making of the Gay Self - Didier Eribon
One of the first books that i study about genre and sexuality, it helped me a lot.
Debt: The First 5000 Years - David Graeber
The last Wow that i have this year, the guy is embarked on a very ambitious project, that can make any marxist shit in his pants, a very interesting, highly academic approach to this problematic that is as old and relevant in todays world.

˄ the whole Kingkiller Chronicle is good

Zedie if you are fantasy fan i can give you some tips for very good books that i read myself:

George R. R. Martin - A Song of Ice and Fire - thanks to tv show, its very popular series

Dmitry Glukhovsky - Metro 2033, Metro 2034 - the story is set up in Moscow metro after nuclear war

Arkadij Strugackij and Boris Strugackij - Roadside Picnic - the movie Stalker is loosely based on the novel

Andrzej Sapkowski - The Witcher Saga - became much more popular thanks to pc games

Herbert Frank - Dune - the whole saga ofc

Dan Simmons - Hyperion

Jonathan Stroud - Bartimaeus Sequence

Terry Goodkind - The Sword of Truth - Legend of the Seeker tv series based on the books was rubbish

Joe Abercrombie - The First Law trilogy, and other 3 books from same world Best Served Cold, The Heroes, Red Country

Garth Nix - The Old Kingdom series

Robert Anthony Salvatore - whole series about dark elf called Drizzt Do'Urden

Robert Jordan - The Wheel of Time

Robin Hobb - The Farseer Trilogy, The Tawny Man Trilogy, Liveship Traders Trilogy

Steven Erikson - Malazan Book of the Fallen series - my personal favourite

I also like some warhammer and warhammer 40k book as well but the list is already too long :D and in the near future i would really like to start reading Dragonlace series
