Zenith™: The Console Crusher

Re: Zenith™: The Console Crusher

I built something similar last week, but my budget was little bit tighter. if you are interested i will post some pics later.

MOBO: MSI Z97 Gaming 3
HDD: Western Digital Blue 1TB (64MB)
SSD: Kingston HyperX 3K SSD 120GB
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB DDR3-1600 CL9 kit
CPU: INTEL Core i5-4690K
CPU custom cooler: Gelid Solutions Tranquillo
GPU: MSI Nvidia GeForce GTX 960
PSU: EVGA 600B
CASE: Nanoxia Deep Silence 3
MONITOR: HP Z24i

I know both SSD and monitor are not the best choices but i got them for 150€(ssd+monitor) so i am not complaining.
I would rather have modular PSU with better efficiency but EVGA is fine and has enough power for future uprgrade.
Regarding headset i will go for Hyperx Cloud Gaming.

Great rig man, defo a fan of the Nanoxia DS3, a mate of mine has it and the online reviews are excellent. A real no-nonsense case and made of very sturdy and durable material. Considered of getting it myself but it wasn't in stock and so got the CM Storm Scout II Adv. instead.

Planning to OC your 4690k in the near future?

On my final shortlist it was between DS3 and Fractal Define r4, after reading some reviews and price comparison, ds3 won and i dont regret it the case is great, made of solid materials, fans are very quiet, plenty of room inside and also looks very good.

I do not plan OCing it right now but in the future i definitely will.

I've tried many cases (at least a dozen), but when I got the 800D in my hands, that's when I said stop.
It costs a LOT, but it was worth every penny IMO (definite recommendation).

The cable management system is one of the best I've ever seen.

Sweet rig man! I love a little tinkering to OC but always pretty cautious, so take my time.

Literally no time now with 2 kids, but would love 2 hours just to mess around and see if i can squeeze out a few extra mhz

re Cuki: the cable managment is the only one thing i really dont like on DS3, the space behind MB tray is pretty tight, it takes some time to manage all cables the way you want and close the side panel

re Zedie: i think i can get a decent a OC with the gelid cooler, but for a better cooling and lower noise lvl and better cpu temperature i will probably buy a more powerfull cooler like noctua, be quiet or cryorig

Bought the Deep Silence 5 Rev B thanks to this thread what a great case but is it standard today that they deliever the cases without a PC speaker ? I'm really "oldschool" and need one .. a case without a PC speaker is no real case. :snooty:

Stop being a cheapass.
Buy a proper sound card and good speakers.

I bought mine for like 500€ (my GF nearly got unconscious when I told her how much I paid lol) but in the end, it was worth every cent.

I have a proper soundcard on the mainboard plus an external for mixing with my turntables and have among others high quality Sennheiser DJ headphones ;) but I need a PC speaker if an error occur cause my board don't have a "hex digital display" to show me what's wrong I also miss the beep at startup feels wrong without the beep :(

Small upgrade.
Recently I have bought some new parts:
New CPU Cooler - Scythe Ninja 4
PSU - Corsair RM750x - semi passive, fully modular
RAM - Adata XPG 16GB DDR3-1600 CL9
Mouse - Logitech G502

Also OC'ed my 4690k@4,5GHz (1,262V), next year i want to buy a new GPU

Sweet stuff. Pretty sure gpus like for example the GTX 1060 Gaming X 6GB will be at a good price next year in terms of VFM.

For those who don't know, 2016 is the ideal year to upgrade your DRR3 RAM as prices have dropped drastically; by drastically I mean twice as cheap as opposed to in 2013, 14 and 15.

A kit of 8GB now costs about £35-40, in 2014 you'd have to fork out £70+ for exactly the same kit, regardless of the manufacturer.

If you're unsatisfied about your system's speed while multitasking, now is the time - prices could start to rise again any time soon.

MSI Z170-A Pro
i5-6600K
EVGA GTX 1060
SAMSUNG MZ-750250BW 250GB SSD
KINGSTON DDR4 2400 Mhz 1x8 GB
Cooler Master Hyper TX3i CPU cooler
Corsair CP-9020098-EU VS650 650Watt 80+
and my old case and 750 GB HDD.

Any suggestions? Is that PSU good enough?
