First year Gunner fan

Postby TXGooner » Tue May 03, 2016 2:18 pm

Just finishing up my first season and I can't believe how much I've enjoyed waking up hungover as hell at 6 am to watch Arsenal play. I'm born and raised in Texas, have lived in Austin the last 11 years. Big fan of Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and all of the teams from Texas Tech University (my alma mater). I'm also a fan of Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Stars but not a diehard fan of either of those teams or sports. I was in London for first time ever in Feb 2007 and ended up watching an Arsenal match at a pub and had a great time. Have always kept an eye on them and this year decided I would try to watch all the games to see if I could get into it. I've been a fan of USMNT during the Gold Cup, World Cup, etc. Anyway, not sure anybody will read this but hello anyway and I will be going to an Arsenal match for my honeymoon in October. Hope to maybe meet up for a a beer with some of y'all before or after the match.

Welcome, we all have our story as to why we follow the Arsenal.

Go on youtube and watch videos of Tony Adams if you want to know what our great club is about. Then look for the 90/91 season highlights to see when I fell in love with the club!

Welcome!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately everyone's on edge here, it could potentially (and needlessly) get a lot worse at the club. But hey, you've already supported us through the river of shite that has been 15/16, think you've already earned a stripe or two for that!

A bit of advice, don't invest too much emotionally, it'll bring out the worst in you! Wait until the good times come back... they're coming back, right guys?

Ha, well as a noobie I didn't figure I had much of a right to complain but I sure have been pissed off after some of the games. I don't know enough about soccer <takes cover> to be considered anything close to an expert but it was aggravating the sh** out of me to control possession the entire game and draw 1-1. The CP game had me pissed off for the rest of the day. But the high moments made it worth it. Waking my girlfriend up early in the morning on Valentines to me screaming about Welbeck's last second goal is one of my top sporting moments of the year. It was fantastic. Anyway, thanks for the welcomes and hopefully as I learn more about the game I can take part in some better discussions.
