Hello from Texas

Postby EastTexasGooner » Wed Jul 30, 2014 10:38 pm

I'm 29 and have been an Arsenal fan for about 15 years. I started following Arsenal by playing FIFA and Arsenal just happened to be the first team available to choose from, and they were rated well, so I went with them. I became more and more curious about the players I was playing with, especially Henry, who eventually became my all time favorite player, and I became a loyal supporter of the club.

I've signed up here because I only have one friend who is really into soccer, he's a Barca fan, and I also have one other friend who just got into the sport, a Man City fan, although he's too new to the sport to have proper conversations with, so I wanted to be able to talk to fellow Gooners. Go Gunners!!

Yee Har.. Hello, hello...
Just a tiny tip...
We call American football American football cos that's what it is... American football, not, say, Throwball..
We call Baseball Baseball, not, say, Stickball....
We call Football Football cos that's what it is... Football, not, say, soccer.. You're one of the family so I feel I can say this & know you'll take it the way it is intended

The only proven winner in red and white at this club? Arsene Wenger. Sack the board.

Soccer is an English term, not American. Also, why does Sky have a show called Soccer AM, and why is there a charity event in the UK called Soccer Aid? I've never understood that, but, for what it's worth, I do call it football sometimes you just have to understand that where I'm from in Texas, American football is king and football/soccer doesn't get much thought, so it's not so easy to switch that on and off. :)

Can this guy get banned or at least a warning, not having this soccer malarkey.

Always wondered why the American version is called football when you rarely use the foot.

Been trying to get in to NFL and see what the fuss is all about. Watched the last couple of superbowls. Sorry to say the half time entertainment was the only thing worth watching in either. Too many stoppages and time outs and god knows what else. No wonder it's not popular anywhere else.

As for our football, it's at it's lowest point since I've started watching it with the shit football, money dictating everything etc.

Unfortunate your two friends follow two despicable teams. You at least chose wisely.
