Hey guys, recently joined this forum and I have to say I've been nothing but impressed. It's nice debating and speaking with mostly intellectuals on Arsenal FC. Not everyone agrees or has the same opinion, but at the end of the day we're all gooners. Personally, I'm more of a realist as some of you may have noticed already.
Some information on myself is that I'm Florida born and raised (yes another 'bloody yank' here ). Played soccer most my life, at least all the way through grade school. I'm currently a graduate student now. When I was younger, I was always a fan of the BPL, but couldn't decide on a team. Had friends who were mostly United and LFC supporters. Interestingly enough, I watched the film 'Fever Pitch' and that sparked my interest of Arsenal FC. That interest quickly became a passion, and I've been a supporter ever since.
I was fortunate enough to go to London a couple years back. Sis lives in Spain so I've had the opportunity to travel quite a bit, and London has been by far my favorite city. Bought a jersey at Harrods, and I've worn it nearly every match day. I have others, but that jersey is my favorite as it makes me feel like I have more of a connection with the city. Arsenal played Liverpool that weekend, the game where they got the late penalty in I believe the 98th minute (complete 'bollucks'). Walking back to the tube with all the fellow goons was one of the most depressing, yet passionate experiences I've ever had. Which is why soccer will always trump any sport here. Over here, most sports are just a hobby. Where for me, Arsenal FC is a life, as it is for any other true supporter. My girlfriend jokes saying I put Arsenal over her, and I think she's right sometimes..
Hopefully I land a job after graduate school overseas. My dream would be to work in London/England at least throughout my 20's. I apologize for being long-winded, but just know there are actually passionate goons 'across the pond' as well. The sport has grown immensely over here the past decade.
Cheers!
