That unbeaten run has been papering over the cracks. We still have this fragile confidence that was apparent under Wenger. Lose a game and invariably lose the next through lack of confidence.

What's important now is that we get the three points against Burnley. By hook or by crook.

Yep, we know we aren’t very good really and that Emery has a lot of work to do. The worrying thing is that based on last night alone, he needs to get rid of a few and our youngsters aren’t good enough to step into their places.

That means spending money, which we don’t appear to have. The upshot being.....let’s prepare for long term mediocrity!

I don't see why we have no money.

Surely we didn't move to the new stadium just so we could get by.

Was at the game last night and it's so evident we lacked width, speed and directness from wide positions. AMN had a game to forget and Iwobi looks a completely different player from the start of the season.

We lack creativity and a person to pick the right ball. The reality is we have that player in Ozil but he's so hit and miss by not playing him at all he won't hit any form.

Mhki has been poor for us since he signed and a few goals have disguised this. The sooner we get some natural wide players the better.

Why do ALL our rivals have players who can comfortably pass between the lines, in terms of pass accuracy and pass weight, but we can't do anything of the sort?

What kind of low-technique squad to Wenger amass? It's mind-boggling.

Xhaka is not a cb. Unfair to judge him.

soccer 101: don't allow a player of kane's ability all the time in the world to turn and release dele to goal. you press him hard if his back is to you, simple as that. xhaka screwed that up.....has nothing to do with being a cb. force kane to play a simple ball back.

Think it highlighted how much we rely on full backs in Unai's system. Similar to Pep, the full backs offer the width and without Hector and Kola our attack looked flat.

He's also not a centreback. He's slow for a midfielder let alone a cb

slow has nothing to do with it. his decision making is awful. and saying he's not a cb is weak.

the mistakes he makes are not position related. xhaka has a low soccer iq simple as that.
cheers!

He's an emergency CB and played like it today.

Secound goal is Kosceilny ball watching again.

because xhaka didn't close kane, kos got hung out to dry. if kane is pressured and not allowed to turn kos is in good position, but once harry turned kos was screwed.

I’m no fan of Xhaka, but how anyone can judge him when he played as a center half is beyond me.

The second goal is 100% the player marking Kane (in this case Xhaka) doesn't matter if you're a FB / CB / DCM you must know who the opponents main man is (Kane) you must also know football basics, never let a player have time to bring down the ball and turn ....
If the defender is up Kane's arse and he gets beaten by a brilliant turn then fair enough, but to drop off five yards giving all the time and space in the world, that's a schoolboy error, and exactly why you don't play a mentally and physically slow (in footballing ability) midfield player as a CB ....

Bear in mind Spuds had only one CB on the pitch plus three FB's .... that's still four players with defensive discipline .... and didn't the difference show .....

Xhaka has been a CM, a DM, a fullback and a center half this season. He’s not some 16 year old, he’s a grown, mature player. Instead of moving people around, our academy should have been ready for this, it wasn’t. You want to get rid of Xhaka go for it. He isn’t the glaring issue here.

I think Emery will slowly turn towards youth as certain players continue to let him down. He can't just come in and drop players straight away, he has to give existing players a chance to bed into his system. But like Klopp and Pep, once they don't follow through and deliver, he'll have to look at youth/spend.

this game ain't rocket science. xhaka's decision making was poor leading to both goals.

1st goal he was lazy and extended the field allowing son to get in on goal. if he was aware, all he had to do was step up, son would've been offsides.
2nd goal he was again.....lazy af, allowed kane to turn and play a deadly thru ball. if he pressures, kane would've been forced to play a simpler ball back.

defending him saying he's not a CB is bollocks. he's played the game long enough, those poor decisions are unacceptable.
cheers!
