we had it coming with this f***ing poor starting line up

What was poor about the lineup, despite the fact we have lost most of our defence to injury and suspensions and having to play not match fit players in defence?

3 at the back doesnt work
Iwobi and miki starting instead of ozil, ramsey or lacazette

Also this. Can we put an end to three at the back now?

Agreed if nothing else simply because we don't have enough defenders for it, I mean wtf is Xhaka doing playing in defence ............. worst of all, when we have Ramsey and Ozil on the bench.

3-5-3 needs to be sacked off.

Hopefully this loss forces Emery's hand and helps him get his f***ing hesd out of his ass..

Players like Iwobi, Mikhi, Gandouzi should not be starting over the likes of Ozil, Laca, Ramsey.

Falsely pinning our defensive woes on Ozil and Ramsey and using that as an excuse to start iwobi and Gandouzi has to stop. We are leaking goals with or without them..

Xhaka was needed in the midfield today. The move made no sense at all.

Would’ve put Ramsey on for lichtsteiner and played anyone rb, maybe guendouzi to get him out the way.

Really gone off guendouzi lately, he’s a good prospect but he’s slow and cumbersome and wastes possession quite often.

Adding more players in defence against Southampton just cos we’re short was such a stupid idea

We needed to just outgun them which we could’ve easily done had we started a normal line up

I have a feeling Emery might have underestimated today's opponent based on their performance so far and their league position, while they have a decent team and an exciting new manager who has been smashing it with Leipzig.

We could've played 6-4-0 today, a good defensive display was never going to happen with the limited and make-shift defensive options available.

Thought it was obvious we should've gone at them guns blazing in order to outscore them and I fully believe we had the attacking resources to do so.

Instead we decided to yield a midfielder for an additional defender which caused us to lose grasp of the midfield and eventually lose the game as logical (and predictable) consequence.

Individual errors and limited options aside, Unai should also be held responsible for his approach.

Mistakes were punished today although you have to take your hats off to the quality of Southamptons final ball. I feel like a little too much was on Guendozi's shoulders today. He coul have done with Ozil with him sooner.

Great game to forget this one next.

guendouzzi gave auba a free one on one with fantastic half, then he played inch perfect pass again to torreira to give auba a tap in which dfender blocked him. His passing actually creates sh1t

I just have to mention it as well, it doesn’t excuse the result but this ref was a complete f***ing arsehole from the first min. Yes he foul they made in min 1 was a stonewall yellow card any other time and then the 100 unpunished fouls they made affected our game.

We should overcome it and win anyway but f***ing hell I wana smack the c***

??

Gendouzi was better than torreira today if you ask me?
Put in a few nice pases that setup attacks. Also recovered posession along Lacazette that set up the 2nd goal.
