The diamond midfield with Xhaka on the left is a viable option and could work to showcase him in a better light both on and off the ball.
However, much would depend upon the formation and quality of the opposition.
4-3-3 is like the antidote to any 4-4-2 set-up, hence why it is often considered a bit dated by coaches unless you are packing top quality players for each midfield and defensive role like a Man City, and even then a 4-3-3 like Chelsea of old mastered would likely subdue then overpower it 8 times out of 10.
Give Monreal Clichy or Cole's turn of pace and I'd be less concerned about Xhaka's limitations being likely to be targeted and exposed.
And as good as el Torrito is, the Star Wars Death Star battle scene cry of 'They're all over me, they're all over me' suddenly springs to mind.
As such the possible gain of having Laccazette and Aubameyang as a traditional pairing with Ozil at the tip of the diamond, might not balance out against the probable loss of central midfield and result in a game like Liverpool at home last year.
But against the right opposition it could be utilised as a viable tactical switch in my opinion, personnel permitting.
