Ospina
Bellerin Koscielny(c) Mavropanos Monreal
Mkhi Niles Ramsey
Ozil --- Welbeck
Lacazette

Cech, Mustafi, Kolasinac, Xhaka, Wilshere, Iwobi, Nketiah

One of Ramsey or Mkhi needs to be more defensive than normal for the above to work. Otherwise start Xhaka ahead of one of them and hope the dropped player can make an impact off the bench.
Ramsdale
(Turner/Hein)
White Saliba Gabriel Zinchenko
(Tomiyasu/Niles) (Timber/Holding) (Trusty/Kiwior) (Tierney/Tavares)
Odegaard(c) —- Rice
(Xhaka/Lokonga) —- (Partey/Elneny)
Havertz
(Jorginho/Vieira)
Saka Jesus Martinelli
(Pepe/Nelson) (Nketiah/Balogun) (Trossard/ESR)

This is done. Atletico will be happy to grind out a 0-0 and go through on away goals. Thankfully Simeone is pragmatic and not vengeful.

Still, our high line defence and brainless CBs will probably gift them a couple of goals anyway.

here we go again, just like before the first leg...we've already lost at least 2-0 then have we? without even kicking a ball..impressive.

Ospina
Bellerin - Mustafi - Koscielny - Monreal
Xhaka
Özil - Mkhi - Ramsey
Welbeck - Laca

Subs: Cech - Mavro - Kolasinac - Niles - Wilshere - Nelson - Nketiah

Tough choice between Niles and Xhaka. Xhaka was one of our best players in the first leg and has the experience needed for such a game. Niles playing style is a lttle bit more suited to this game though imo, as Atletico will probably sit deep and Xhakas long balls won't be that effective compared to Niles ability to penetrate through the middle.
Wouldn't mind either of them.

Would love to see more of Mavropanos, but I don't want to throw the kid in such a hard game after just one first team appearance. If the game didn't go well and he was at fault of it, it could crush his confidence. I prefer him to be one for the future and play the rest of the league games without too much pressure.

Ramsey, Mkhi, Welbeck and Özil should try to balance the midfield and support Xhaka. If three of them are in advanced positions, the fourth should stay behind.

Mkhi, Ramsey , Welbz, Özil and Laca have that goal between them, that we need to advance. Only fear is our defence and Ospina again.

They rested five players that started against us - including the keeper, the two central defenders and the two forwards.

It's all lined up to be a very interesting game on Thursday. If we can keep it together at the back, I think we always have a chance of nicking a goal.
