If it was stonewall you probably wouldnt have looked at it 100 times

just wanted to give it a good look if it was a year ago and was a tackle on rvp for us we would have screamed the place down for a pen!!

Iv got no issue with the given decision.

But the penalty decision can be debated, a case can be made for both sides therefore not stonewall.

im just saying man.

And the tackle was clean aswell, he hit the ball. The hatred on Sagna is making my head hurt.

Eh? He was nowhere near the ball!

+1

they showed replay from very very close and it showed sagna got the ball, commentators agreed. Cant find it
but you can see it on this gif aswell, although less obvious

Edit, you can see the ball bouncing after sagna gets it.

If you we're to watch it on sky. They showed it at half time from the front that it was RVP's right foot that kicked the ball not Sagna

Our defence had that covered. Unnecessary challenge really

This. Besides, RVP was going nowhere.

This is RVP on his left foot we're talking about, inside the box. Not Stuart Downing!

Rewriting the rules of football there bro

There is no rule that says if you touch the ball it isn't a foul. That isn't a rule, a general rule of thumb, but not a rule. Otherwise Giroud would have had his red overturned, because he touched the ball first.

It doesn't matter who it is, basic defending. Sagna shouldn't have dived in like that, it's reckless and stupid.

I'm not disputing that, I just don't agree that he 'wasn't going anywhere' if I remember rightly there was players in the box queuing up and we all know how dangerous he is anyway.

That's why I said 'he was going nowhere', RVP himself. ;)

If fouls were given for follow through not a single tackle could be made in a game

Giroud went over the ball not even close to comparable (that is an actual red card offense)

That only applies if its a dangerous reckless challenge, then it does not matter if u hit the ball or not. If you going in the challenge with a non dangerous sliding tackle and hit the ball first, its a clean tackle.

I thought Sagnas studs got the ball at roughly the same time as RVP touched the ball forward TBH.

His initial mistake, his panicked sprint back and reckless lunge all contributed to the refs decision, who saw it from behind the incident so had a different view to us all. The GIF above is probably closer to the referees view than the frontal one shown by SKY which I thought showed more clearly Sagna getting teh ball with his studs.

However, if it had been Theo tackled in the same way by Evra, we would all have been screaming for a Peno I think.

I dont agree with Yorky - if you win the ball first, it's not a foul.

Agree with Dejan on this.

All that said, it IS history. The ref gave it, RVP scored and if Sagna hadn't been thinking of Paris in the Springtime with his backpass, there would have been no peno!

Just to make it clear.

If the ball is taken first. It can still be a foul.
